Halloween 2018

#1 Post by tay666 »

Just realized we don't have a thread for the upcoming Halloween movie.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am cautiously optimistic about this one.
Supposed to be a direct sequel to the first movie.
I am not expecting amazing, but I am hoping for something close to how good the first one was.

Isn't Halloween 2 the ending of Halloween when the Doc blows him and Michael up in the ER room with the gas on?Plus noticed in the trailer here some Easter eggs like the Halloween masks some kid was wearing like the skull mask from Halloween 3.
Travelers to unknown regions would be well-advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate.

Like I said, this is supposed to be a direct sequel to the first one.
So none of the other ones ever happened.
Apparently, after he was shot, fell out the window, then got up and disappeared, he was subsequently captured and incarcerated again.

You are right though. Two rapped things up nicely, and was a pretty good sequel.
But then they made 4 and Meyers didn't die in the explosion, he was just in a coma for 10 years.
Loomis didn't die either. Severe injuries, but still alive and kicking, and obsessing about Michael.

My Son & I watched the original a week ago. I'd only ever watched it ONCE before - a few years after it came out - and didn't understand what all the praise was about.

We came to the same conclusion when re-watched.

Carpenter peaked with "Escape From New York" and "The Thing" as far as we are concerned (honourable mention to "They Live").

We'll watch this online once released.

Real nice sequel to the original. Carpenter, Curtis and Myers back in action once again.

Happy Halloween!

The wife and I went to see it yesterday.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Then again, I didn't go in, looking for something scary. This hasn't been scary in decades. It was a great slasher flick though.
Well thought out. All the characters were realistic and believable. As a matter of fact, the daughter was so annoyingly condescending, I kept hoping she would get it :)
The plot, again, was well conceived and realistic.
Bonus points for the creativity shown in some of the kills / gore, and for many of the callbacks to the original. They worked them in, without being too heavy handed.
And the humor was a great counterbalance to the horror. There were some downright hilarious pieces of dialogue that had the entire theater laughing. Followed by scenes that had the whole place gasping, or at least holding their breath hoping it wouldn't go there.

I would recommend this to any fans of suspenseful horror.
Sure, it hit all the beats you expected it to, but they weren't obvious. It kept you wondering what was going to happen, or how it would happen.

Sequel comes out next week!

Personally, I am excited to see how it goes. I like the characters and want to see more of them.
Though I did think they wrapped things up nicely with the 2018 movie.

Some things we out grow. for me this is one of them..
All Friday 13th are laughable.. this.. ended with Donald Plesance died.
I seen the last one.. I wasn't impressed.

Too bad for you.

I loved the last one, and will be in the theater on Saturday to see this one.

I heard rumors about a sequel to Halloween III. I am totally on board.

As for Kills ... the last one had some decent moments. Overall worked decently. I was never a fan of making Laurie and Michael siblings. I'll see the new one before long.

Didn't realize that I forgot to post after seeing this.

Wife and I went and saw it last weekend, and we both enjoyed it a lot.
It's not perfect. Characters do stupid things and pay the price for it, which always annoys me.
I really love the history they built for this though.
It's a direct sequel, picking up exactly where the last one left off. Then they flesh out some of the other characters more with flashbacks to the original night he came home. Very well done in that regard.
Nothing that really touches the original story but more stuff that happened off screen.
They also brought back some more original characters. Both the kids that Laurie was babysitting were in this one. Played by the very same actors as well.
And there were some really good and brutal kills.
This movie is not for the squeamish.

Not a big fan of how overpowered they eventually made Michael though.
But they had to do something to set up the sequel that is due next year. Halloween Ends.

Horror has to go new direction or it will die like the western..
Yes it rhymes .. Evil dead is still fun..
