Not a bad piece of casting, and not a bad line, in the entirety of BOTH movies. Classics indeed.

Here's a classic! Long before Heavy Metal and other animated films set to music there was Yellow Submarine! Released in 1968 it would occasionally come on TV and it was like waiting to see all the Peanuts specials and the other Christmas classics or Saturday morning cartoons. As many times as I've seen it I always see something I never noticed before. Just some visually stunning art and set to some awesome tunes of the Beatles. LOVE this movie!!!! :smokin:

Thought of another today at work. Not sure what made it pop into my head, but it did.

Silent Running.
I first saw this some time in the late 70's on one of the late night movie shows.
Loved it. The 3 robots, the whole set up.
It wasn't until later I realized how heavy handed it was with the theme of the movie.
But still a great one. Gonna have to buy it eventually, as I never see it shown on TV anymore.

Yeah - LOVE that movie.

Another couple of "oddballs" popped into my head last week . . . Crocodile Dundee (1986) & Crocodile Dundee II (1988).

The associated memories were so good I accidentally discovered (and non-accidentally bought) a new 1:6 figure as a result :D . . .

I still enjoy the first one.
The second one wasn't bad, but it never really grabbed me nearly as much as the first one.

Ok guys. I was saving this one. We had a theater that would show cult classics at midnight on Friday's like Rocky Horror or Dawn of the Dead and it was always packed with stoners yelling and carrying on but THIS was the best one!

Warriors.....Come out to playyyaaaaay.............. :2guns:

This is certainly one of those movies that often gets included in cult and/or classic lists - so I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen it.

I've just added it to the "track down & watch list" though.

Thanks bud - already half-hour in. Would have got further but had to do some research as to where I'd seen a few of the actors before - then I realised the baby-faced "Thomas G. Waites" was "Windows" from Carpenters "The Thing" (* I can be so dumb sometimes! *) #-o

And DAMN is that "meeting" at the beginning impressive! - don't think I've ever seen that many "extras" in a movie before.

Yeah - not too bad at-all. Certainly don't regret watching it. Will doubtless watch AGAIN at some point in the future.

Part of the fun was trying to remember where I'd seen half the actors before

Thanks for the recommendation that finally got me off my backside to watch it - it's easy to see why this became a cult fave.

JUST re-watched the first one (for the umpteenth time!)

This has the be THE most perfectly paced movie of all time . . . I defy ANYONE to watch this and not agree that something interesting and/or funny happens AT LEAST every 30 seconds (yeah - Crocodile Dundee - that's tight!)

And just re-watched the SECOND one (ALSO for the umpteenth time).

Another perfect movie. There are bits in the 1st 10mins that are a bit "rough", but the rest of it - MAN!

Mick taking care of Sue and sorting out the bad guys? - super easy, barely . . . . (* ah heck - you know the rest *)

Casting and script is superb (and funny - love the perfectly timed humour - go figure!) - and the Aussie scenery - breathtaking! The Australian outback is STUNNING!

Australia was one of the 5 countries we SERIOUSLY looked into when we were planning on emigrating in 1999/2000. It likely would have come out top - but the wee Wifey was NOT prepared to cope with the fact that a reasonable percentage of the local species (insects & reptiles for the most part), could be somewhat less than friendly. If it was just MY decision though (and I didn't have to consider the Wife & kids) . . . game over . . . the other 4 (including Canada) wouldn't have had a chance.

    • One of my fave exchanges from the movie . . . probably in part because "Donk" reminds me of one of my buddies - Paul (Paul has more teeth) . . .
        • Denning: You shoulda brought a gun instead of a beer, mate.
Nugget: Nah. I don't need one. I got a Donk.
          Denning: Got a what?
          Donk: Donk.

To the animated list I'll add Fire and Ice! The combined talents of Frank Frazetta and Ralph Balshi. 8) I 1st saw this on rented video in 1983 when I bought my 1st VCR. A JVC 4 head with a remote that had a 25 foot cord....... Paid $ 550.00 bucks for it! (VCR)
