Daredevil on Netflix

#1 Post by cire-neivk »

Has anyone else watched any of the new Daredevil series on Netflix yet? I think it is very good and I like the direction it is going. I'm already on episode 5. :D

I'm through ep 8. This show is great! Loving the characters, (Foggy, Karen, Ben, etc.) But particularly the Kingpin storyline. Although NOT my choice regarding the actor.... baby-faced and not nearly big enough, he's acceptable. But following the storyline of the big-man, us old-marvelites know Mr. Wilson was held in check only by his wife Vanessa. The actress player her is doing an X-cellent job in that aspect! She's already having him graduate from black suits to grey.

This show is worth the wait and watch. :smokin:

4 episodes in and loving it also.

Surprised how subtle the 'super power' fx are.

Fight scenes are brutal and dirty, I've winced more than once.

Full disclosure - I liked the Affleck movie also! esp the Director's cut.

ouch!!! up to ep 6 so far... and just getting the Affleck bad taste fully washed
away for good! <g>

Not totally impressed w/ Frisk yet... just isn't mean enuff. Like he doesn't
really know how to play him. And miss the 'Kingpin' name... no one knew
who 'Frisk' was for a really long time, yet everyone seems to know who
he is cuz they're dropping his name every other minute!

Fight scenes are fantastic... love how he takes as much as he gives. Unlike
Bat's who always seems to have the upper hand. Really well done!

Saw the next ep was titled 'Stick'.... but had to slap myself from watching TOO
MANY AT ONE TIME and to resist the urge!! Thankfully GoT and Silicon Valley saved
me last night, but not sure I can fight the urge to binge!! <g>

Finished the series and loved it.. Great writers and fight scenes were awesome. Especially episode 9 knife/chain (not sure what you
call the weapon used) fight scene. It looked real and you felt his pain.

Now that DD has opened the door for an dark/bloody series, maybe they might consider doing a Punisher series. One can hope right?

I know there is a Luke Cage and Iron Fist are in the works.. Netflix doing Marvel right.

Uh-Huh-Huh.... He said "Frisk".
You'll like Stick! Played by an old favorite. 8) Regarding Mr. Fisk, The word "KING" has been mentioned a few times. As I mentioned, Vanessa toned him down a shade lighter in wardrobe so maybe/hopefully we'll see him in white along with the cane and gas tie -PIN! Also one ep was started @ a bowling alley.........

Just finished ep 9 and yeah its brutal! But we see some serious King-pin here. But the ending............... broke the cardinal sin for 1st season eps. :-#

While I did enjoy the series of 13 episodes, having read the particular comics this series was based on it seemed a bit too familiar for me to totally enjoy. And since it was such an utterly depressing and utterly humorless series, it did not really fit my desires for superhero adaptations.

Life stinks enough that I want some wish fulfillment and humor in my entertainment. At least with having a cohesive and well planned out storyline, Daredevil overcame the complaints I had with all 3 Iron Man movies. Parts of the Iron Man movies all held my attention, but then for me they jarred me out of my enjoyment when the plotlines changed to something else, seeming more like another movie than part of the one I started watching. I'm not explaining it too well, but that's pretty much how I feel about my complaints with them.

Still, I feel that it was a far better and more interesting use of my time than were the Nolan Batman movies. Those I have no desire to watch again. I could change my mind about this Daredevil series, but for now I don't think I will ever watch it again either. But I did like watching it despite the depressing and violent vision of the world that it presented.

I was thinking the same thing! The Punisher was always one of my favorite characters and would make a great series.

Finished the series this evening and I agree with others that D'Onofrio looks like a decent Kingpin but doesn't know how to play the part.
I never really bought that he was in charge.
It seemed his assistant Wesley was more in control.
I do like the job done by Charlie Cox playing Daredevil and the supporting cast is okay. I'd like to see more Rosario Dawson. That could help bring out more internal conflict for the Murdock character.
And I think the fight scenes are fantastic. Brutal, they was they have to be and extremely well choreographed.

Just finished the final episode last night ... arguably one of the BEST live action adaptations of comics materials ever done.

The amount of Easter Eggs all over the pace was incredible, and the fact that they've already introduced two villains for next season is awesome.

Couldn't resist the urge to breeze thru the final 3! (I really tried not to!)

ep 11.... Wow!!!! just WOW!!

Great job all around. Slightly disappointed with the performance of Fisk still...
but everyone else was ace!!

Have to admit I got so use to the 'man in black' that when he finally dons the
red suit, it looked slightly campy!! The headpiece just seemed slightly off, to
me.

But great job, Netflix & Marvel! Can we have season 2 now? <g>

I know one! Never knew his name though. I missed it at his intro but caught it the last ep by pausing on that diagram! Too Cool! :smokin:
