Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
Yep, that was pretty cool! Series is still moving pretty slow, getting anxious to see the other characters appear.

Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
The rats took the first episode off youtube. I watched the first 5 minutes a week ago, but then had to work. No time the past week. Finally get a day off today - and its been removed. I suspected it was for a short time only. Of well. The acting looked good.

Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
.
Have now caught up on all the episodes so far - including yesterdays E05.
So far, I'm loving it. Patrick Stewart never fails to impress.
The acting from the curly-haired lass was well-dodgy in E03, but she seems to have gotten past that now.
E04 and E05 (both directed by Jonathan Frakes) were easily the best so far. LOVED seeing Jerry Ryan back in action - the lady still has her looks & acting chops, and the character now has a nice "aggressive" edge as a bonus.
I like that there's stuff being tackled that is "darker" than the usual Trek material (although Discovery had also been trying & succeeding in that regard).
Interesting characters throughout, and some great twists/expansions on the historical Trek universe.
Well impressed

Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
Been loving it so far and wondering (no spoilers) if it's going to tie in to discovery seeing how last season ended. Both dealing with a similar plot point. Will we finally get an answer to star trek tmp.

S01E06 - "The Impossible Box"
I wasn't over-impressed with last weeks (E06), but E07 . . .
No big explosions, no massive space fights, just wonderful dialogue, beautifully filmed, scripted, and acted.
The real-life bonds & friendships between the actors just RADIATED through the TV screen - I've heard "chemistry" talked about on many an occasion - but I've never seen it be so apparent before.
In all honesty, I don't think there has EVER - and I mean EVER been a Star Trek episode that I found more emotional than this weeks - for all sorts of reasons.
I know that I've been more than a little "vulnerable" of late, as has the rest of my family, but for goodness sake - that first scene with Deanna & Picard had me choking back the tears. And it happened over and over as 2 of the classic characters from TNG interacted with Jean-Luc and the new folks in such poignant ways.
There were beautiful, clever and heart-wrenching moments throughout, and the acting was of such a high calibre it's impossible to overstate how good it was. And on a lighter note - I smiled from ear-to-ear at the jazz music in Riker's first scene too - lovely touch.
The highlight of the season so far for me - DAMN this is good

Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
What is this "dead" thing of which you speak? Didn't matter with Spock, there's gotta be a workaround for Kirk. I wish they'd try because his movie death was one of Trek's low points.
Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
This series gets better with each episode. Personally, I'd leave Kirk out. I'm kind of 'Shatnered' out.

I can't remember the title but shatner wrote a novel/sequel to the movie where he's brought back to life.Todd P. wrote:What is this "dead" thing of which you speak? I remember hearing about that but never read it. Shatner's about to turn 89, I doubt we'll see him in Starfleet uniform again.

With all the improvements going on in cgi, i bet we are going to see every star trek actor in films at some point.Todd P. wrote:I remember hearing about that but never read it. Shatner's about to turn 89, I doubt we'll see him in Starfleet uniform again.

Re: STAR TREK : PICARD
If its the novel I remember it tells a great deal more about the Borg than was ever revealed by the various TV incarnations. The description of Borg heavy construction equipment is bone chilling. Reminds me of the Martian tunneling machine of War of the Worlds.Todd P. wrote:I remember hearing about that but never read it. Anything else I could say would be spoilers.
