The Witcher - Netflix
5 eps down so far... just a head's up if others are as stupid as
I am... there are TIME LINES! (would have been nice to know
back in early episodes!)
Not familiar w/ the game nor books, but really enjoying this series!

Yeah - it jumps back-and-forth in time with very little explanation. Not helped by the fact that many of the characters don't age (over decades!)
Just try to cope through those early episodes. There's a fair bit of nudity that I felt wasn't necessary (who am I and what have I done with Spike!?), and some gore (the "operation" scene) that I also could have done without – but I’m glad I watched.
Now I’ve seen them all, I understand how clever & unique the approach to storytelling was. Still confusing as heck when you first watch it, but clever nonetheless!
They’ve already greenlit Season 2.

- • Starts off OK-ish with E01
• E02 dragged and is the worst
• E03 picks up a bit
• E04/E05 great
• E06 is the best of the bunch
• E07/E08 both help explain a lot & fill in the gaps

Re: The Witcher - Netflix
I finished it the other day. It's enjoyable. Not great, but not horrible. I also fast forwarded through most of the nude scenes (hey, at this point in my life there's nothing new to see there.) The timeline thing sort of pissed me off since I didn't realize it until fairly late in the season. For the life of me I don't know why they couldn't have put some sub titles in or something noting it.
I look forward to Season 2, in 2 years.

Re: The Witcher - Netflix
yeah, ep 3 was quite the screamer! My wife at one point yelled from
the other room while wrapping presents, 'WTF are you watching?! A Jason vs
Myers fight or what?!' lol
But it wasn't til that episode when Yennifer is dancing w/ the king and you see
the brother & sister young again, that I thought...hmmm that's weird, is that a
flashback? Was only later the next day when asking my son why Ciri, in all the
pictures or models I've seen of her, appears to be older than that 12 yr old girl
in the series, that he said, 'well, there's different time periods, so she's just young
now'... and I said, 'WHA???! What gave you an indication there were time lines?!?!!"
But ep 4 pretty much proves that... so yeah, would have helped to have a head's up.
Also a nice subtitle of what kingdom the camera cuts to throughout as well too! Like I
have some problems keeping the kingdom's seperate and who was in where.
But thought the guy cast as Witcher was very, very good! And can't figure of if Yennifer
is a good guy or bad guy? (my other son sez in the games, pretty much everyone was
neither all good or all bad...they'd help or stab ya in the back! )
Now on to LIS s2!

Re: The Witcher - Netflix
They definitely tried to hide it, no character ever changed in apparent age but there were signs in Episode 1Buc Wheat wrote:there are TIME LINES! (would have been nice to know

Cirilla tells Calanthe When you were my age you defeated soandso
Later in the episode Renfri tells Geralt that Calanthe of Cintra just defeated soandso
I never read the books or played the games. After Geralt and Renfri had sex I expected that Cirilla was their daughter. Definitely wrong about that one.
Repeated LOL moment: Geralt looking at a situation and just going "F***"
I enjoyed the show, will watch S2

I've skipped season 3 of "Lost In Space" for now as all 8 episodes for Season 2 of "The Witcher" hit Netflix yesterday.
Watched the 1st 2 episodes last night, and it seemed even better than last season.
I couldn't bloody remember who was who and what their backgrounds were though . . . that jumping around time-wise in the 1st season has screwed up what's left of my memory cell . . . I probably should have re-visited Season 1 before jumping into Season 2. Still - the basic story is easy enough to follow without getting into the history of character arcs.
Took me a while to identify who was under the makeup in S02E01
PS: I love monsterzies (a very well kept secret! )

S02E03 - DAYUM - THAT is how you show powerful characters - be they male or female - take what makes sense (with an allowance for magic, body size, determination and training) and be as realistic as you can be through the medium/universe in which you are telling the story.
I hope the next 5 episodes are as blimmin' good as this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: The Witcher - Netflix
Yeah - I enjoyed it too. I thought the earlier episodes were perhaps a bit stronger, but it was really entertaining throughout.
