The Oscars
I don't Tweet much (I find it's a cesspool...) but I have to monitor Twitter for my job.
Still, I couldn't resist the morning after...

I assume Chris Rock will ultimately respond with a comment along the lines of "Interesting to see what it takes for the media to report black on black violence".

Re: The Oscars
I read a blog post by Mark Evanier (comic book/TV writer) and his take on whether the whole thing was staged (he doesn't think it was).
This part of his "News From ME" blog was kinda funny:
Rock handled the after-slap moment well but if he'd known it was coming, he'd have had a smarter line at the ready…maybe "Is it too late to change my vote for Best Actor?"
((BTW, Evanier's blog is a good ready most days on a variety of comic book/TV/Film/Broadway topics - I've been reading his stuff for about 30 years))

Re: The Oscars
Yeah - no way was that staged (I doubt Smith is that good an actor on pressured single takes).
Personally (I know ALL our posts could be preceded with "IMO") . . .
I thought Chris Rock's joke was a little distasteful - he doesn't have enough of the Ricky Gervais charm, style or delivery to try something like that. I've read the "publicist" post-event reasoning and don't believe that either.
However, the bad-taste joke did NOT merit that reaction from Will Smith. That was disgraceful, and shows how much he is up his own backside and/or how out of touch with reality he is.
Chris Rock handled the result with as much dignity as anyone could under the circumstances.
