Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
This movie looks like it has a lot of potential.

Fingers crossed we finally get a good D&D movie.

Looks interesting - although the trailer was spoiled by the dumb choice of music - SO wrong

Re: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
I actually enjoyed the choice of music.
Gave it more of a fun feel.
I hope they don''t use it in the actual movie, but for a trailer it's totally fine.

I liked the music - hope it stays.
The Heath Ledger film, A Knight's Tale, also used a modern sound track to attract a younger crowd to an film and subject matter that might otherwise skew toward an older audience.
Keep an open mind

LOL -there's nothing "modern" about a Led Zeppelin song

Should have been clearer - by more modern sound track I meant and more up-to-date approach of using pop/rock music as opposed to using and original orchestral soundtrack.Heavy Metal Spike wrote:LOL -there's nothing "modern" about a Led Zeppelin song

Ah - gotcha - still - it gave us the opportunity for some humourderekc62 wrote:Should have been clearer - by more modern sound track I meant and more up-to-date approach of using pop/rock music as opposed to using and original orchestral soundtrack.
I'm not adverse to that being done - happens all the time with trailers - I just didn't think THAT track was suitable.
So after all that - maybe it's ME that wasn't clear with my initial comment
I'm honestly surprised Trev approved since he's not a huge blues-rock fan
PS: Buc - I STILL think they are dinosaur rock though

Most 80's metal bands are dinosaur rock too.. no matter how much they put themselves on pedestals..
They want to rock not without the icy hot..

Re: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
I will admit, that is not my favorite song from Zep. As a matter of fact, there are only a handful I do still enjoy.Heavy Metal Spike wrote:derekc62 wrote: I'm not adverse to that being done - happens all the time with trailers - I just didn't think THAT track was suitable.

But I found it very unobtrusive for the trailer. There is a lot of dead time in that song, and it works well to let scenes from the trailer shine. Another plus for the song, is that everyone has heard that guitar riff at some point or another, so it is familiar.
But yeah, I would call that dinosaur rock. It's slow and plodding, At least the old Sabbath stuff has the lyrics going for it.

From the 1st 30 seconds though - looked like it could be fun.
Better to go in cold anyways.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Saw it today, and loved it!
It wasn't as funny as the trailers led to believe. It was still fun but it had a lot more plot and heart than I was expecting.
I don't know why people were complaining about the CGI, I thought the effects were fine. Didn't notice anything that took me out of the film.
A very refreshing thing about the movie, it felt complete. Didn't feel like they were trying to set up any sequel, just tell a great complete story. That is kind of rare these days.

I've seen positive reviews from several people I trust (including yourself), so (especially if it's missing the LZ music) I'll hopefully enjoy it
