Agreed.

I haven't got a clue what is going on in the video - but the artwork style reminded me of that god-awful "Dance Of Death" album cover (coincidentally, 18 years old today).

No idea on the production background - AdultSwim ?!?!?!

Adult Swim is the late night block on Cartoon Network.
They do a bunch of original shows, intentionally done badly (both the live action, and the animated)

Ok, I have given up trying to rank each song. My mind keeps changing every time I listen to them. This is one of those where it is good to listen to the whole album but only a few songs actually stand out (much like 7th Son for me)

Writing on the Wall and Stratego are the two standouts for me.

Days of Future Past, and Hell on Earth are most often my next favorites.

Time Machine works it's way into the second tier occasionally but the tempo change in the middle takes me out of it, and as great as the solos are, they drag the song out too much.
The Darkest Hour is good, but feels more like a Bruce solo song, and a pale imitation of Tears of a Dragon.
Lost in a Lost World sound like a BNW song that didn't make the cut.

Darkest Hour and Senjutsu are just kind of boring. They have good parts to them, but they just leave me numb for the most part.

Death of the Celts and The Parchment are the two weakest songs on the whole thing.
The Parchment has the ingredients for a good song, they are just watered down with too much filler. If the song was half as long, it could have been good-great.

So, there, I guess I did rank them.

Courtesy of BW&BK (again - bless) - https://bravewords.com/news/iron-maiden ... the-record

Bruce:
  • "We didn't have access to it, simple as that. None of us had a copy of the record because we knew we were gonna have to sit on it for a while, and we were so paranoid about security and the internet and people ripping it.
As soon as you let the record be heard by anybody, you are at risk of of it leaking. So, basically, apart from myself and Steve (Harris / bass) nobody in the band heard it because they'd all gone home (following the recording sessions).
We mixed it, and I was in the studio when we finished the last track. Myself and Steve sat back and listened to the mix, we listened to the mix again, and then that was it. And the next time I heard the album at all was a couple of years later."

Stayed away from the beastie for the last couple of weeks - currently working my way through the playlist (I was getting the shakes) . . . volume on max - headphones bouncing off my 'ed . . . damn I LOVE this f'in album !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no denying the chills or vertical hairs - this hits all the spots.

Without a doubt - the best Maiden album since 2000's "Brave New World" (IMO).

I could have been born a country fan, a rap fan, a pop fan (or any of the other crap out there), but it all turned out JUST RIGHT - you have to love happy endings :D

Glad you are loving it.

Personally, it doesn't do it for me.
Much like AMOLAD and FF there are a few songs that I enjoy but the rest of the album just doesn't grab me. BOS was better for me, but that is still lesser than DOD or BNW which I still consider the best of this century for the band.

Thanks for the link Trev - I've really grown to love that fellas art style over the years.
    • . . . plus I'm quite fond of the music  - including THIS piece (track 10/10) - "Hell On Earth" . . . "Love in anger" indeed =D> :hot: :jam:

EASILY album of the year for me - epic, emotional, thrills, chills and joy . . . celebrating the very best in my favourite genre of music.

If they are not already - Maiden will ultimately be recorded over history as the greatest rock band of all time - period.

I'm thinking I should find some time to design an unofficial combination pic of some of his "Eddies" for a hoodie - we have a custom printer just 15mins away from us :-k

Also agree 100% with this comment . . .

Ok, after a 3 month break, I gave the album another listen last night.
Sadly, my appreciation for the album hasn't changed.

I was hoping with some time away I would find some of the other songs more enjoyable, but it didn't work. It did work with BOS but not this album.

Oh, and for those interested, a 20 minute interview with Bruce

It's not your fault - I'm thinking the continued news churn about covid has affected your taste (I heard on Twitter it can do that - but maybe I've misunderstood :-k )

I love it more with every listen - go figure.

Thanks for the link - bookmarked for watching later.

I never heard any more, so I think the tickets to the Maiden show, trumped tickets to go see Bruce talk.

Well . . . no Vancouver date this time round - so that wasn't an option for me. Besides - I'm fed up of the crappy sound at the hockey arenas this province jokingly calls concert halls.

However . . . have a gleg at this :bgrin:
