Now this is more like it.
  •

“ATTN!!! Due to the overwhelming and supportive response to Lemmy's memorial we are now using the entire Strip to compensate for overflow. The Rainbow will close from 5 until 9 PM for a private service, however the Roxy and Whisky will remain open to accommodate those looking to show their respects during this time.”

•

Family and close friends will observe a service at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Hollywood, commencing at 3 PM, PST and ending at 4:30 PM. With such limited space available on-site, Motörhead respectfully ask that you don’t attend the cemetery… but they want you all to be a part of this, so they are setting up a live feed of the service via the internet on Motörhead’s official YouTube channel.

Says Motörhead: “So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch the service with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. Go to your favourite bar, or your favourite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home. Whatever your venue, and however you can, let’s be sure to gather globally on Saturday 9th and celebrate the life of our dear friend and irreplaceable icon.”

A reminder to those of you that have been following this thread or may be interested.

RE: the details in my previous post, tomorrow I’ll be sat down with drink in hand to salute, respect and remember one of the most influential rock stars EVER.

He’s been a big part of my life since 1978 – I miss him already.

The official YouTube channel for Motorhead is here - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbPCDm ... dA8abZtWpA

And you really need to watch this (to the end – only 1 minute 7seconds long) – made just a few weeks back. Nice snapshot of the man’s character.
  • “This is offered in celebration of the life of a lovely, exceptional man – a man who celebrated life so vibrantly himself. We were first shooting a remake of an iconic Finnish milk ad. The tone of this ad that was shot a month ago was changed to make it a heartfelt tribute, however modest. A take that came late in the shoot was selected – one of Lemmy’s brilliant improv moments that was never in the script. This was our magical encounter with a great man – and we’re honoured to share it with the world. Thank you, Lemmy.”

Part of me died today with Lemmy. A bit of what makes me ME passed with him.

His music, the DIFFERENCE he made in SO many lives - that will NEVER be forgotten.

He was (and always WILL be) an icon, an inspiration, a legend . . . and just DAMN cool.

Watched all 3 hours of the service (peaked just short of 300 thousand viewing) - some of it was awesome, some of it was embarassing - but seeing emotional/emotive confirmation from so many folks was nice.

Given how poorly prepared SOME speakers came over, wish they had pulled in Dee Snider - HE would have added something TRULY special.

Not too shabby though . . . and although I normally can't STAND Jack Daniels - I found myself with a "Lemmy" in glass - and truly enjoyed it.

Unique - and pure class - just like the man himself.

MOTÖRHEAD - LEMMY's Custom Urn "A Rockin' Tribute" - http://bravewords.com/news/motorhead-le ... in-tribute
    • Image
  • "What an honor to have worked on this piece," says Saari. "Todd, Shelly and family allowed us full creative freedom to make something remarkable. Our condolences to the Kilmister family — we’re honored we could create a rockin' tribute."

According to the StarTribune, customized with 3-D printing technology (typical cost: $2,500-$3,000), the urn was pure Lemmy, made of all-black ceramic-like material shaped like his trademark black cavalry hat, with his Ace of Spades tattoo underneath and the lyrics, “Born to lose / Lived to win.”

The urn will be on permanent display in a columbarium at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood.

Now 2 years since Lem passed.

He continues to inspire and influence.

And I (and millions of others round the globe) continue to miss him.

Never liked the original, but love this - especially the way the video has been put together. Great tribute from Motörhead Official on Aug 7th 2017.

We're up to SIX years today since the king left us.

DAMN I still miss the dude, but am so SO grateful for all the music he gave us, the way he has influenced other musicians, and how he affected MY life.

Sometimes things catch you off-guard and generate an emotional reaction you were not prepared for.

I'll freely admit that THIS resulted in a bit of a "watery eye" moment a couple of days back  https://bravewords.com/news/motorhead-w ... s-hellfest.

The man was one of my heroes. Loyal, honest, sincere, straight down the line . . . the very definition of integrity & honour. A giant among his peers.

Short "making of" vid here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH0ZXKu2zzA - so f***ing cool! I think the statue is about 40 foot tall (but can't re-locate the stats I found Friday)

Easily the best sculpture of Lem so far . . . just SO "metal" (literally and figuratively) . . . DAMN but we need something like this in the UK [-o< [-o< [-o<
