Old English Rock

Anybody remember David Peel & The Lower East Side? Not the kind of stuff you heard on the pop music stations.

Yep... I'm probably wrong, but wasn't/isn't he from New York? :refexion:

I seem to recall him getting into John Lennon's inner circle for a while in the 70's... IIRC he played a few gigs with Lennon and had some albums out about

You're right! He made a fortune hitting the charts in England and was a minor player in the states. He did hang with John and did a couple albums that were Beatle themed. I think one of his best songs was "Up Against The Wall"

Yeah, he was from NY.
I had (I think) his only album. Lost it (and everything else) in a house fire a few years ago. Occasionally look on eBay for it. No luck.
I like off-beat stuff and I liked him. Sounded like Punk before Punk to me. It's been so long now, I wonder if I'd still think it's as good as I thought?

Hmm... pretty funny.
I see there are several other Peel things on Youtube.
I'll have to check out a few more to see if my memory is reliable.
Thanks!

Charlie
