In case anyone missed it. Deep Purple is hitting the road with Alice Cooper this summer.
Figured a few here might be interested.

Me, I'm hoping the rumors are true. There are whispers that Metallica might be hitting the road with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat for a stadium tour.

Yeah DP and Alice are coming to St. Louis - Edgar Winter Group opening for them They just announced Billy Joel at Busch Stadium here this week and at same time said Metallica was scheduled as the 2nd separate concert at Busch sometime this summer. I haven't heard anything else since then but I hope it is a reality!

Rumors confirmed!
And as fate would have it, they are playing Toronto the day after the Maiden show in Toronto.
It may be a very nice long weekend for me.

Ah - Metallica - one of those bands I wouldn't go to see even if I got a free ticket and shuttle service.

Now - Lady Gaga on the other hand . . . . . . .

Gotta ask Spike.
Why wouldn't you go see them?

Seems like everyone in the community raves about them, and Hetfield has always had the appearance, voice & attitude for the genre, so I keep trying to listen to new stuff as it comes out.

But . . . basically . . . I just don't like their music or musical style, and feel they are overhyped and overrated.

The exception would be a few of the songs off that self-titled "Black" album from 1991.

I can agree with the overhyped and overrated since the black album.
But a lot of their older stuff is pure gold in my book.
I really don't have much interest in just going to see Metallica. But with 2 other bands that I do want to see, I'll check them out again.

Oh, and for the record I am enjoying the latest from Metallica.
(man it's been like 2 decades since I could really say that)

If anyone wants to give it a try I would suggest these 3 tracks.
Atlas Rise - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFAcOnhcpGA
Now That We're Dead - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlF4rhAbwyc
Moth Into Flame - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tdKl-gTpZg

If you don't like any of those, I wouldn't bother trying any other tracks on the new set.

On a sad note, we lost Chester Bennington today.
For those unfamiliar, he was one of the singers in Linkin Park (also filled in for STP)
Apparently committed suicide.

On an amazing note, need to check out this video.
