RIP Larry Coryell

#1 Post by timetraveler »

I was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of master guitarist Larry Coryell. Larry Coryell was a phenomenally talented and dedicated player who was a great inspiration to many, many musicians for several decades. He was an enduring "hero" to me ever since I heard his Restful Mind album in the Seventies and remained an inspiration with his varied releases over the years. He was a trailblazer both with the electric but also the acoustic guitar. While tremendously innovative he had great reverence for giants such as Wes Montgomery. I saw him perform in the Eighties in a small jazz club where it was just him, a chair and an Ovation guitar. Pure magic! Between sets he was very friendly. An all round great guy.

Thank you Mr. Coryell. Your music lives on.
