Any thoughts on the whole Aerosmith fiasco?

#1 Post by tay666 »

For those out of the loop, apparently Aerosmith is being honored at the Grammy's and some other event this week.

Their long-time drummer has been out for the past 6 months for health reasons.
He wanted to come back and re-join the band.
They won't let him.

Here is a bit of summary, and a bit of view from the drummer's perspective

And here is the band's official response

Pretty sad this is happening to these guys after being together all these years. Not sure where the true story lies - probably somewhere between. I tend to think Joey Kramer's story is closer to the truth. I'm sure being in Tyler and Perry's shadow all these years hasn't been easy for the other members. I think some big egos are playing into this drama.

I hope it all gets resolved and they can all get back together again. Too much history there to let it all go away.

They need to retire there prime years are long gone.
If slayer Metallica, Kiss, and REM retire why can't they?
Ac Dc is another one which need to retire.
I'm Bon Scott fan.

Why retire? If they can still draw the crowds and still enjoy it why quit?

You do know that Metallica and Kiss are still touring right?
And Metallica hasn't even hinted at retiring.

Sadly there will always be concert groupies no matter if the lead singer lost his voice blind
death and in a wheel chair .

KISS is only retiring from touring. Their brand will continue and they will still do the one-off festival here and there.

Why should AC/DC retire? Now that Brian Johnson can get back on stage and not have further hearing loss there is no reason to quit. Loss of a member here and there is unfortunate but I still like hearing music played live.

Plus I don't consider myself a "concert groupie" because I enjoy going to live concerts especially if the group playing has music I like.
