#1 Post by Heavy Metal Spike »

The trailer has the vibe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac3fvLV9KqI

The band has the talent.

The music speaks for itself.

DAMN these guys are good (but please excuse the OTT expletives).

I thought Alter Bridge broke up and that Creed was back together. No?

All I know is the local radio station I listen to has been playing Ghosts of Days Gone By a lot lately.
Last summer it was Isolation.

I'm not complaining. :D

I had to check, as it made me insanely interested. Here is what it says on Wikipedia, which I trust for stuff like this.
The instrumental members of Alter Bridge have turned their attention on their other band, Creed,[67] while Myles Kennedy has turned his attention to his project with Slash. Both Kennedy and Tremonti will also release solo albums. Tremonti has said in interview that after Creed's scheduled tour and new album in 2012, Alter Bridge will reconvene to record its fourth studio album, though no specific date has been announced. He also has emphasized that he is always writing music for both acts.[68] Drummer Scott Phillips also said that new Alter Bridge material will probably be released in 2013.[69] Tremonti said the band might also release some previously unreleased B-sides at the end of 2012.[70]

In February 2012, it was announced that Phillips had joined a new band called Projected with Sevendust members John Connolly and Vinnie Hornsby, and former Submersed guitarist Eric Friedman.[71]

myles RULES! we were just talking about this during lunch...
The instrumental members of Alter Bridge have turned their attention on their other band, Creed
what a joke, a waste...and this is coming from someone who saw creed in their heyday around a dozen times...including the ill-fated infamous 'scott is sick' show

In this case, it must be a fact that they feel they owe it to Stapp (or feel sorry for him), or just love playing the material. I can't imagine Creed is much more of a money maker than Alter Bridge these days.

John, you saw the Stapp circus show!?! As a guy who loaths Creed, color me jealous! I would have loved to have been at that show!

dude he was all sweaty and shaing and had like a blankie wrapped around him...sitting on the drum riser stairs singing a few tunes...when he was walking around the stage, he looked like a frail 200-year old (or ozzy  )...brutal...

best description i found was here:
http://www.metalunderground.com/news/de ... wsid=20470
Scott Stapp:
Messianic Creed singer Scott Stapp seemed over-refreshed before playing Chicago's Allstate Arena on December 29, 2002, possibly due to a cocktail of Jack Daniel's, Xanax and an anti-inflammatory steroid he'd been taking for his throat. After performing five songs, Stapp wandered off stage, and guitarist Mark Tremonti went backstage to look for him. He found the singer resting on a couch, apparently convinced he'd played a full set. Persuaded to return to the stage, Stapp removed his shirt and shoes before falling backwards over a monitor. He then got up and sang the wrong words to crowd favorites “Higher” and “Arms Wide Open.” Four fans later sued the band, demanding the entire audience be refunded.
this is fun reading especially if ya hates them  :

I should say it is Stapp I have a problem with. I really like Alter Bridge from what I have heard. Kudos to those guys for continuing on and actually creating a NEW band, and not the same band.

Some months ago I stumbled accross a band on the Paladia channel. Never heard of them, but they really caught my attention, seeing how I like very little newer music. Of course it was Alter Bridge. I was really surprised it was guys from Creed as I hated Creed. Or as Zombiezilla said, Stapp. Didn't care for him. And if you don't like the singer, chances are your're not going to enjoy the music. What I saw of the show was excellant.

Here's a few links for those that may be interested (adapted from a post I made over 3 years ago).

Alter Bridge are by no means a pop band, and their material may not be cheerful in the same way as Halestorm . . . . but they are SO emotive.

1st album - One Day Remains (2004)
2nd album - Blackbird (2007)
  • Blackbird - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz_j7nVCJJ0
    • (* Myles at 1:15 – wow! – this album cover is also one of my fave T-shirts – for my much-missed friend Corey –
. . . “Ascend may you find no resistance / Know that you made such a difference / All you leave behind will live to the end / The cycle of suffering goes on / But memories of you stay strong / Someday I too will fly and find you again / Let the wind carry you home / Blackbird fly away / May you never be broken again” *)
    Watch over you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYDCOundXOY
    • (* A highly emotional song that often brings a tear to my eyes when I think of my Wife & children *)
    Rise Today - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYG3BPvFOgs&ob=av2n
    • (* Most people know this track well *)
3rd album - AB III (2010)
I adore this band and their music, they are all so talented.

Myles Kennedy is a God amongst all other vocalists. For me, he has joined the ranks of Ann Wilson (Heart), David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Ronnie-James Dio (Dio), Paul Stanley (solo, and a few KISS tracks), Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Rickey Medlocke (Blackfoot/Skynyrd), Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Bob Catley (Magnum), Brad Delp (Boston), Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Alannah Myles (self), Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Sabbath/BCC) et-all.

My apologies - I followed the link and forgot to post my appreciation.

I saw them live in Vancouver about 1.5 years back. I was more impressed with Slash than Myles that night - I may have been too close to the speaker stacks or they had the mix wrong / too loud and droned out his vocals. That sucked, but Slash was amazing.

Your link shows just how well suited they are.

Thanks.

Oh - and I completely forgot to post this bit of info that surprisingly few Alter Bridge fans are aware of.

Try this link for his cameo in the 2001 "Rock Star" movie. Starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston, and inspired by the real-life story of Tim 'Ripper' Owens of Judas Priest.

Myles' parts go up to 2:50.

I checked out all of the youtube links, and sadly they do nothing for me at all. They are a heck of a lot better than Creed, mind you, but the vocals really hurt them for me. They are one of those bands, however, that I would never question or wonder why somebody likes them. Solid musicianship all around, strong vocals, and good writing. But, they just don't click for me. It is very cool to see them still cruising along.
