Yeah - but that staircase could do with some sash drapes . . .overspray wrote:It's obvious you are a master of not only building kits, but a master at decorating as well. Looks like your new place will be just fine.

Re: Scenes from a Modeler's Move ...
*LOL* Thanks guys. The setting up will take more than 2 months (we leave on vacation to visit relatives in a week and won't be back til mid-October), but its a start. Garage still has more boxes to put away but at least the model stash is situated.
The "stash" has migrated ... some in the garage, and the "good stuff" in the MBath linen closet and MBath walk-in-closet ... creativity don't you know ...

A quick peek at the dining nook/military memorabilia area off the living room/kitchen open space ... my wife suggested the placement ... and boy am I glad she did ... FINALLY its displayed where it can be properly viewed .. I like the "view from the dining room table particularly"...

Nice.
Have you thought about getting one of those custom perspex cases to keep the dust off & protect it?

Too expensive - I've got a lot of 'bashed models.Heavy Metal Spike wrote:Nice.

It took me 14 years from when I finished it to spring for a custom-made glass case for my Yamato ship model (after I had to repair some broken cables courtesy of the ladies who cleaned the family Summer house before we got there). Turned out sweet, though. Only cost about $200 USD.

Re: Scenes from a Modeler's Move ...
UGGGGH! I feel for you! With the housing market being what it is in Nashville my condo appraised for almost 100K more than what I paid for it! Ive thought many times of selling, buying a few acre's in the country and buying an old mobile home again. I just don't wanna pack all this crap and move. Not to mention building shelves and gluing all this crap back together again!!!!

Re: Scenes from a Modeler's Move ...
Thanks Trev! You ain't seen nothin' yet! (And I am VERY lucky to have an indulgent wife who supports my hobby - but wants all that "stinky stuff" kept out of the house ). Fortunately I have my garage workshop - I am barely starting to do a little work there. I have basically just part of one day a week for modeling (which is better than what I had the past 3 or so years - nothing). Once the real estate market slows down I'll have a lot more time ... but am in no hurry to get there ... got to keep saving for retirement.tay666 wrote:Those displays are looking great!
One nice thing about moving is that I went through everything and found a lot of my old military keepsakes - including my dog tags from my '96 deployment - which I have now incorporated into the display areas. I feel ALIVE again now that I am back in Texas after so many years!

Re: Scenes from a Modeler's Move ...
Glad to hear it is all agreeing with you.
And yeah, it is a great feeling when you can finally get your stuff out, and see it again.

Hah, my wife is exactly the same; totally cool with my creatures displayed around the house ;
but she also hates the “stinky” part of our hobby…
Congrats on moving to Texas and getting things set up !

Re: Scenes from a Modeler's Move ...
Spent an hour last night straightening up my workbench area. I am inspired to start on a couple more paint ups (rear area - not pictured - still a bit of a mess ... need to do more cleanup there )
