Looks good - did you get someone in or end up doing it yourself?

Thinking of adding an "island?

Had it done. I have enough projects for myself already, to take that one on as well.
I wasn't sure about the dark when the wife took a liking to it at the store. But when we brought the samples home to see how they looked, that dark one clearly won.
We just had to wait two-and-a-half for the flooring to come in.

As for an island, the kitchen isn't quite big enough for one. Which was apparent when we got the house and ripped out the one that was already there.

So now we have a roll-out-island.

Which is the gray cabinet you can see next to the refrigerator in the first picture.
You can pull it out, and the back side folds up to make a larger surface.
It has never been used in that capacity, but the wife wanted it 'just in case' ;)
It sits there on that side of the kitchen under the pass-through into the living room With the air-fryer on top, and all the napkins, paper towels, paper plates, bowls, plastic cups, and plastic utensils in the cupboard portion, and various rarely-used items in the 3 drawers.

3 years later, and the kitchen is almost 'done'.
I have one project left which just came up a few weeks ago. The wife decided she doesn't like the beadboard on that wall with the window. So, I get to take it off and try to skim coat that wall for paint. She got that idea after I did the wall in the laundry room last month.
Should be interesting, since this is what that wall looked like when we covered it up

Clever on the mobile island - similar to the basement workbench idea.

I'm with her on the beadboard - the horizontal grey/white/marble covering on the other walls is more my taste.

Everyone has different preferences though . . . each to their own.

The whole thing is a massive improvement on the "moving in" condition - worth all the hard work and you'll be able to admire it for years to come.

Oh, I agree with her as well. I was actually thinking of bringing it up but she beat me to it.
For me, the reason was I didn't do the best install work on it, and I could see all the imperfections.
Seems I don't do my best work handling 4 x 8 sheets by myself when I have 2 liters of fluid on my right lung :)

That's where we differ - given my Scots heritage, I do my best work when I have MORE than 2 litres of liquid inside me
