1/6 AMT/Ertl Scotty

#1 Post by Owen E Oulton »

On Wednesday July 6 we had our annual Canada Day contest at IPMS Ottawa. The theme: anything Canadian. I took in my just-completed AMT/Ertl vinyl LCdr Montgomery Scott, as Jimmy Doohan was a Canadian who was wounded in action on Juno Beach on D-Day. I took a third-place ribbon.

The shading on the shirt is quite a bit more prominent in person - maybe a bit too much so. The transporter pad was painted white with a little blue shading in triangles (sort of quartered with white and very light blue, blended) and over-coated with iridescent white (like the refit). All paints were craft acrylics with a tiny bit of Liquitex Artists' Acylics to shade some of the flesh coats. The hair was given a wash of Citadel Chestnut ink to give it a little sheen. Assembly took about an hour originally, with two days for the painting.
