Thanks!
I did a little more detailing and threw on some paint to see how it looks all tied together.
Almost done with major modifications.
Just need to slim down bottom front of neck, detail back and sides of neck, attach head, and fix balance.
Also still have some refining to do, but getting close.

Then I have to determine paint scheme.
Given its a xenomorph, it could just be all gloss black; and that would be very easy and quick to do.
But as the pics show, that color scheme does not have enough contrast to highlight all the details.
So I may go with a red&black or green&black?

Slimmed down bottom front of neck and Detailed neck sides and back ; still a little refining to do
Added more alien tubing details to forearms, collarbones, thighs, and mid leg segment
Slimmed down lower leg segment and made calves more pronounced
Here are Some pics with head loosely on, the head will be much more vertical when finally attached

Adding more alien details to outer and inner thighs, calves and forearms
Adding more bone ridges to tie in the tail higher up on back of hips
Lots of sanding and cleanup to do

Looking good - its a race now who will finish first with my Kong kit (which is on hold again pending arrival of more supplies). I'm betting you'll redo yours again to "let me back in the race". :rolf:

Permanently attached the head and finished addition alien mechanoid tubing details.

I really like the side profile view of this bash, but not so much the view from straight on front.
But not going to change anything.

I spent a lot of time painting this kit a green and black color scheme but it came out really really bad.
So, sticking with all black alien color scheme.
I may try to add some silver-ish highlights to teeth and some of the tubing.

I cannot use original xeno rex base as kit relies on wing tips for balance and they are too long for base.
I am burnt out on working this bash so I will most likely do a very simple base and call it done.

Thanks to all who have been following this bash.

The profile does look great.

You could just set it aside for a while and come back to it when you are a bit more excited to finish it.

You know you are going to do that anyway even if you do 'finish' it to get it out of the way.

Thank you Trevor and B-A!
I sincerely appreciate your consistent encouragement and helpful feedback.

No doubt I will revisit this bash in the future, maybe make the wing webbing dark red for some visual interest?

But gotta break away from this kit as I need to get the bashes I plan to bring to wonderfest in contest shape.

Here are some requested front view pics.

Wonderfest? I'm jealous! Don't think I'm ever likely to get there. Bill "Monster" Jones and I might drop in to the San Marcos IPMS regionals in August with a few of our figure models ... though that is a pale substitute for WF ...

Tried blocking in some dark red on wing webbing and under neck and abs.
Still have to tone the red down a little more, but I think (hope) this color scheme is going to work.

I do really like it with that red.
I think I've been watching too many mini-painting videos though, because my thought was you should maybe push that red even brighter. :)

Those front view pics remind me of something, but I can't put my finger on it.
Especially that first pic. That silhouette is reminiscent of something but I have zero clue what it is.

Thanks Trevor !

If I was a much better painter then I would be able to make mid-center portion of each wing webbing segment very bright red/orange and then fade color into darker shades of red as webbing moves towards fingers.
This would give appearance of light shining through center of each webbing segment.
But since I do not use an airbrush, this is a bit challenging to do.

I think I could make the front view much better if I made the wing webbing segments near the body much wider and attach to the torso way down by the lower hips. However, I purposely kept these segments very short and join high up on the torso because this gives a clearer unobstructed view of all the added back details when viewing from the side. Hope that explanation is clear ?

DON'T DO IT MAN!!! DON'T MESS WITH PERFECTION!!!

(Seriously) This is the best paint up you've ever posted. The balance between the subdued red on the back of the wings and the FIRE of the red on the front of the wings is PERFECT! Love the way you've blended the black and the red at the edges!!!

The wings look like pulsating, molten LAVA!!!

I'm all out of emojis, so here's a couple of repeats! :drool2: :drool2: :drool2:       =D> =D> =D> =D>
