Kitbash: Hell Hound Death Dealer, 2024-01-13

#1 Post by barad_dur »

2024-01-13; new pics page 2; started adding death dealer rider
2024-01-03; new pics page 1; threw on some primer , detailing almost done.
2024-01-02; new pics page 1; continuing to detail the tail
2024-01-01; new pics page 1; working in detailing the tail
2023-12-28; new pics page 1; repositioned and reordered spikes on the front legs
2023-12-28: new pics page 1; working on making the tail thicker
2023-12-27; new pics page 1; detailing under the neck and tail
2023-12-26; new pics page 1; reworking the upper jaw and nose ; roughed in the extended tail
2023-12-24; new pics page 1; started modifications, slimming down neck, lengthening tail

Sometimes I get a kit and I think it is so cool that I just have to immediately build it.

That is the case with this Stygian Guard Hound 3d print that Magecraft Miniatures team was kind enough to make me this huge custom print.

I plan to make the following modifications:
Slim down the neck
Lengthen the tail
Rework the tongue
Possibly modify (remove?) the nose horn and chest horn

I may also take one of my other humanoid creature kits and make them into a rider on the back of this hound.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I should should finish one of my other in work bashes before starting yet another one….

Nah - variety is the spice of life (but their reporting is a little cringe).

Another thread to look forward to.

I've got 4 in various stages of completion (oldest one started a year ago) ... so I can relate ... :alcoholic:

Started reworking the upper jaw.
Removed the huge front horn as it seemed way out of scale to me.
I may add some smaller horns back on top of the nose.
Extending the upper jaw a bit as it had a big underbite.
I usually don’t like it when the lower jaw is thicker than the upper jaw, but in this case, I think it looks ok. For now….

Thanks B-A and Trevor.
I really like this kit!
I found the kit that I plan to use as a rider. I need to check if scale is correct. Stay tuned….
But I have to finish all these body mods first.

Cut off and repositioned the spikes on the back of the front legs.
Changed them from pointing downward and forward, to point upwards and backwards
Reorganized them from having largest spike in the middle, to have them ordered smallest to Largest.
Still need to refine and detail where spikes attach to the arm

BEFORE, spikes pointing downward

NOW, spikes pointing upward and forward

Good moves - ALL of them! Thickening of neck/tail looking good - really like the new spike positions! :drool2:

Spike doesn't point - he considers it rude . . . but he may occasionally salute . . .
