At least it's a West Coast show. Probably the closest to me; I'm thinking about it. And $250 is $60 less than tables in the big room at WonderFest, and that only if you book by March 1.

The date for Mad Model Party concerns me; it happens only a month before WonderFest in June. However, given that JerseyFest (August) seems to have caught on, it's probably getting harder to spread out the events during the limited prime vacation travel time. I believe the last Kitbuilders show happened in October and that failed quickly. I for one never even considered traveling at Halloween; it's too much fun to be home then.

At least it's not like the year MMP and WonderFest fell on the same weekend. ;)

Given that I may be moving to LA, this is interesting to me.

If you can make your money back on said told plus food.
and if you have to stay in the hotel , I known people done
all kinds of conventions sci fi, horror, antique toys and collectable toys..
and antiques.. It's not easy making your money back..
I know of big toy show out here they charge $169 for 8 foot table.
Some these hotels room charge too much rent there halls and ball rooms.

It's going to be held in the middle of nowhere. I live in Long Beach and its a 2 1/2 hour drive (not considering traffic). It might as well be in Louisville. It should be in Los Angeles. I won't be going, too big of a trip.

That's pretty funny to me, given that my minimum commitment to get to any show is travel across multiple states and more money than I've ever enjoyed spending all at once. To each his own, of course.

I guess the most important thing is that the show is supported by west coast dealers and modellers.

I'm going to keep an eye on the site, see if it's well updated with dealer information and the like. Not much chance I'll go as a dealer myself unless I split a table with someone. Wish I could just say I'll be there, but a thousand miles plus is a big commitment. Heck, I just double-checked and realized it's only a little closer to me than Louisville, Ky.

And yeah, I agree with Scuzz about the site, it's an inconvenience having to hover over the cute Alice-themed headers to find out what they mean.

I do hope it gets off to a good start.

That's not too bad. Having hobby conventions et al., out of the major cities is because of the price. IPMS is the same . You never see a Con in NYC, Chicago, LA or San Fran anymore - too expensive.
I don't know the organizer, but most likely that's the reason.

If it were at a better time I would have tried it. The one thing I didn't see is the arrangement for hotel stay. Saw the hotel - looks nice. But nothing about a show rate.
I hope it works out.

Last I checked, Monsterpalooza is held in L.A. (Pasadena). The last MMP was held in Pasadena as well.

Well, yeah, ok. This year it's in Simi Valley.

When I hear LA, I think of LA proper. Just like when someone tells me NYC, I think of midtown Manhattan, not Queens or Staten Island. But ok.
I just hope it's successful.

The organizer has been saying he's going to cancel the show if he doesn't get enough vendors registered by Feb. 1. That's today, and the event page on Facebook has been deleted. No announcement through the website yet, but I fear it's not happening. Too bad.

I would be more than happy to answer any questions regarding the decision to not move forward with the show as to sidestep and put to rest any potential rumour mills.

I'd like to hear interesting stories.

I was planning to attend (and vend) at Mad Model Party 2017. I got my vendor table money back, but I'm out a non-refundable $170 for the hotel room.
I guess I might as well go...anything interesting going on in Simi Valley that weekend?

I told one of my acquaintances about Mad Model Party last year, and he claimed he didn't get a response back from the organizers. Different from my experience, I always got back responses, and got my vendor table monies fully refunded.

Sparkart- Well if you do end up going to Simi Valley & you have never been to
the Reagan Library/Museum, you should check it out- they have some cool stuff
there.
