Another Gerry Anderson series tech manual - UFO

#1 Post by DinoMike »

Looks like an awesome companion book to the Moonbase Alpha Technical Operations Manual. https://anderson-entertainment.co.uk/uf ... ns-manual/

Thanks for the heads-up. I 100% WOULD have bought this.

Unfortunately, they only ship via DHL and that incurs crazy "handling" charges when importing to Canada (like - half the purchase price!) We've already got too much stored in the UK to bring back, and books are so blimmin' heavy!

I contacted them after my 1st purchase to request they provide other shipping options, but they use a clearing house / central posting warehouse and I didn't even get the decency of a response.

Silly really - they have already lost out on hundreds of pounds worth of orders just because they can't provide reasonable customer service.

I just preordered my copy yesterday. US and Canada folks have the option of putting in preorders via the US arm of the Anderson store. https://gerryanderson.store/

So I double-checked, and got someone friendly/helpful at their UK head-office customer service (I.E. not the distribution warehouse).

She explained that the US store is now only shipping to the US, NOT Canada, to complaints from Canadian customers regarding courier charges (coincidence!)

We had a number of exchanges, and she said if I ping her just before ordering from the UK store, she would personally make sure stuff was mailed via "Royal Mail" to solve the problem.

That would have been OK, but then she said they are planning on sending various product through to the Canadian Amazon warehouses in bulk, so items (including this book) can be sold "fullfilled by Amazon".

THIS book book probably won't be available until the new year via A.ca, but I'm in no rush . . . as long as I can keep money out of the thieving/greedy hands of DHL/UPS/FedEx, I'm happier.

Thanks again Mike :thumb2:

Great news, Spike! I'm looking forward to getting mine. If it's anything like the Moonbase Alpha manual, it'll be a fun read with some interesting kit ideas.

I got an update email. Production issues slowed printing and shipping, now expected to deliver to USA orders from the US branch of the Anderson store in December.

We both know it'll be worth the wait - but in the meantime, they should ask S.I.D. how to fix the production issues :)

Mine shipped yesterday. I was under the impression that the US orders would ship from their US warehouse, but mine shipped direct from the UK via Royal Mail.

Hope you don't get dinged for OTT charges. Fingers crossed.

It arrived a few days ago, after spending 6 days in customs in Chicago. No extra charges, and it is very good.

Great to hear Mike . . . I'm still hoping it gets released in the US or Canada via a more local store so I can keep my money out of the hand of the couriers.

I'd love a couple of pics if you find time.

That looks awesome - thanks Mike!

There's no question - the vehicle designs in that show (as in all of Gerry's shows) were utterly spectacular.
