Comic Books what are you reading.

#1 Post by modeljunky »

Like most of you I've been reading comics for many years, and have a large collection.
I thought it would be fun to share our collected titles in hopes to find some other new and interesting books.
I had to cut back over the years, but here is some of what I pick up on a monthly basis.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Been collecting since very early on.
Hellboy and everything related, BPRD and Abe Sapien.
The Goon, IMO the best book out there,
The Spirit. Although I stopped collecting Spiderman awhile ago I have about 1000 spidey books.
Howard the Duck.
I also collect a lot of mini series.
And Im always on the look out for anything by Robert Crumb(that I can afford)
Its not just a hobby...its an addiction

I started buying comics back in '61. I had every Marvel #1. All are long gone. Stolen, destroyed by mother nature or lost in a fire. I have a few boxes of '80's and '90s Marvel, DC and a few odd brands. The only comics I buy now is the Walking Dead and The Green Hornet. I also collected Gold Key and all the Warren mags.

Injustice gods among us, a digital comic based on the game. Comes out weekly and in its fifth year. It's funny, sad and surprising. Here's an article that runs down the best moments of the first year. http://www.denofgeek.us/books-comics/in ... man-batman
Helena is here at hand;
And the youth, mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?
Lord, what fools these mortals be! -Puck

The only one i am still a regular on is the goon currently.
everything is based on artist / writer combination and i tend to buy mini series when the combo suits my taste.
but i have slowed down my comics intake to 4 or 5 collected editions a year max.
On the positive side collected editions are coming in all format and shapes and there s plenty of choice. they also look much better in the library... for instance i was never a big fan of hellboy story wise even if i love the art and i purchased those library edition book because they are simply great value and very well made.

Anyway if you are not reading the goon you are missing out ;) !!

probably i should also mention that i have a complete run of daredevil # 1-500 but that i really just continued for tradition up to 500 then i got pissed with the constant numbering change and drop in quality... luckily i have to say all the quality drop on comics on the marvel side as been countered by their good movies :)
