Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
I guess this could go here. It's not about collecting garage kits, but collecting the magazines.
With a ton of info on forums and YouTube etc... does anyone still keep the old magazines anymore? I have a ton of years of FSM, Amazing Figure and going all the way back to Kitbuilder and Modelers Resource - but they take up a lot of room I could use for something else.
I'm afraid I'll get rid of them, only to have junkers remorse and then try to buy some back.
What say you all?

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
As someone who left my magazines behind in a move, I can honestly say I regret it. I even had a copy of AFM #0.
Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
I take my really old ones and leave them in the waiting room at my doctor and dentist. Spreads the word.

I totally think you should sell them to me. Nasty magazines - you SO don't need them.

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
I have my AFM's from 1-current plus a few Kitbuilders and and good run of Modelers' Resource and refer to them frequently.
In fact, the first 15 issues of AFM are sitting on my dining room table as I write because I've been revisiting old articles.
I'm seriously considering creating a data base/cross reference in September when I have a bit of time so I can find specific articles quickly.

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
Yah, I'm guilty of hanging onto them!
I have them all way back to when the first issues of kitbuilders, Amazing Figure Modeler, Modelers Resource, and Model Scenes magazines were published. "Heck," I even have a stockpile of the old John Green model kit lists from California, Lunar Models, Skyhook, and Monsters In Motion sales catalogues, plus a pile of old Fine Scale Modeler magazines dating back to the early 1990's which I haven't even looked at since the mid 90's!

Yes, I keep them because I bought them with my hard earn money. I also keep good old mail order catalogues like Q-box.

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
I still use them all the time to reference kits and techniques. Each time I find an article that I may use at a later date, I keep a list of the topic, issue and page numbers to refer back to.

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
I keep them organized in clear tubs. On occasion I will rummage through them trying to find an example of something I am working on. I have my airbrush magazine articles listed in a spreadsheet and a similar spreadsheet for my comics but have not done it for my AFMs yet.
My R/C magazines hit the recycle bins.

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
Thanks for the replyies so far.
Hehe. Thats it. I have many years of the magazines in those cardboard magazine holders in the storage room, and I haven't looked at them in some time.
The plan is to move in a few short years and I rather throw out/ sell stuff a little at a time rather than be a mad man 6 months before.
But as others have said I'm afraid I'll be kicking myself for getting rid of them. Being a "semi-recovering" completist I want them but also want to get rid of them.

Re: Do You Keep Your Old Modeling Magazines
I still have them all - Model & Toy Collector, Kitbuilders, Modelers Resource, AFM, Model Scene, Original run of Sci-Fi & Fantasy Modeller. I still look at them occasionally - brings back some great memories in the older issues.

is "model scene" like a 10-12 pager? no real "cover"? i think i have them punctured and together in a huge 3 ring binder or i may have sold them too but made Xerox copies for the binder
now i gotta go look and spend the better part of the day strolling down memory lane...
