Stan Lee and Jack Kirby built my childhood.

My childhood would have been quite different without Stan Lee. Marvel Comics was as much a part of the Pop Culture landscape of the 1960s as were The Beatles, James Bond, and Andy Warhol. Along with artists Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and a few others, Stan Lee changed the concept of what a comic book could be - introducing complex characters with real world problems, cosmic worlds of fantasy that intersected with pop art and psychedelia, and delightful wordsmithing (is that a word?) that appropriated everyone from William Shakespeare to Eugene O’Neil (The Iceman Cometh!) Heady stuff for a pre-adolescent kid who was fascinated not only by the incredible art but also the IDEAs that were being expressed in those fantastical storylines. 50 years later, Marvel’s absolute dominance in the cinematic field of superheroes points right back to Stan Lee. EXCELSIOR!!!

He was my hero...... :( I read somewhere that he filmed several more cameos for future movies like captain Marvel.

All cameos to date...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0faB-K3W3ZQ

Once again, our world has become a poorer and darker place. One major lighthouse has been extinguished forever.
