"Soon I Will Be Invincible" and "Ex-Heroes"

#1 Post by Misellus »

Both super hero novels I've read (or re-read) recently. Both were enjoyable so I figured I'd mention them here.

Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman. Book is split between 2 people an aging villain named Dr Impossible (who has some of the best lines in the book) and Fatale, a fledgling hero. Dr Impossible escapes prison around the same time that Corefire (essentially Superman for that world, and Dr I's nemesis) is killed. Investigations ensue. I don't want to give the plot away beyond that. Very fun read, definitely worth the time. Think Megamind without the heel-face turn at the end.

Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines. A zombie apocalypse book involving superheroes (yes, some are turned). Not quite as fun a read as SIWBI but still worth reading. Book focuses around their world's versions of Superman, Batman, and Iron Man (or Stripe if you want to keep it all DC) and how they deal with the living dead.

I consider both to be worth reading and I figure other people here would like them too.

Ex-Heroes was one of the most entertaining reads I have had in a while.
