Michael, that was me that hooked you up with an Invisible Man kit, glad to do it! You covered my gas money home (I ALWAYS overspend at Chiller :D )
CAN'T WAIT until the spring show; 2009 is COP's 10th anniversary and we plan to celebrate with MORE new releases for one show than ever before!

Scott please give me a heads up

#66 Post by Richard Cacioppo »

Scott,

How long did this piece take?

Did you make sketches as you went, or was there an overall sketch?

Do you have an WIP pictures and would you consider sharing them with us?

How much fun did you have will it was under construction?

How much and what kind of research did you do for this piece?

Did you get all that you thought you would get out of a piece like this?

What's next on the agenda and will it have the same complexity of this piece?

Do you plan on topping this piece or are you satisfied with where you went and only want to continue the flow?

Hope you like my questions. I think, most of us would like to be asked questions of this sort. It's like being on the Opra show. lol

you did wonderful

#68 Post by Richard Cacioppo »

Thanks for much for those wonderful explanations to my questions. I'm at work so I can't view your wip pic's now but will when I'm home in the AM. I look forward to it.

I love the behind the snenes stuff. I love to watch the making of all the movies, expecially special effect, monsters, make up, and so on. I'm also a big "How To" programming kind of guy. Me and PBS go hand and hand, and the Learning Channel and Discovery well the list goes on and on. I'm glad the dio took you as long as it did. I'm sure the memory of doing it will last a long time to come.

I think the greatest thing about the piece is although it's crammed to the gills with detail, detail and more detail you gave it just enough and no more. That's the miracle of cretivity, knowing when to say, "Enough is enough. It is finished!"

Thanks so much for answering my questions. I'm sure others relate to them too.

"The crammed thing" was only partly my idea.

I work in a cluttered lab and know what they look like when deadlines are not being met. So I really wanted to convey a feeling of chaos with all of the papers and tools everywhere but it was batleman's idea on plates and dishes. He said it best, giving the impression that the doctors was so immersed that he was just stacking up dishes and meals.

thanks all for the kind words

crampt

#71 Post by Richard Cacioppo »

Hey Scott,

It's really funny that you talk about the crampt, cluttered lab you work in, in real life. I think people put allot of themselves into their work when theymake these kinds of dio's and sculptures. Me, my workshop/modelshop is the same way. Multiple/multi-tasking projects going on all the time. Tools/projects left out, cause they are in mid thought and stage of developement. I think, we artists have the right to continue to the end of our lives doing and redoing all that we decide we should be doing at the time ... got it. lol Yeah, that's the ticket. Sometimes I look at the models on my shelf and say, "Man, you've got to come down to the shop with me again, I've got some redoing to do with you, buddy." Yeah, I'm always seeing ways of changing and progressing with something I've done in the past. So sometimes what going on in my work space probably seems like massive clutter to others. To me, it's just a way of working in the mindset I'm in at that very moment.

thanks for those wonderful thoughts.

Damn me,

I just type for about twenty minutes and crash it's lost. Did I say I hate computers. I'd didn't copy and save.

Anyway. I don't have the time or energy to write all I did again.

I will be at the show.

I will be taking pictures for my so called Newsletter on my site.

I will be entering my work in the contest comes Saturday. A nice amount too, but not to much. Some drawings, some busts from the Geo line and a diorama. I'm bummed out that all but the drawings have to be entered in the professional catagory. Meaning I don't have a snowball chance of coming away with anything. But I'll do it, cause it's exposure and any exposure is better than no exposure at all.

I wish the ClubHouse had a T shirt, cuase I'd wear it with pride for sure of that. Also it would make it easy to pick out others in our group. I'd love to stop and say hello to whomever will say hello to me.

Anyone know if Bazil Gogos will be there. I'd love to get a T of his work. Ran out of money the last time around. His website is not good for interacting and making contact for there purchase.

I do agree, I wish there would be more model tables and less just fela market stuff, especially all those horrid vedio's they sell. Just my point of view.

Hope to see some of you there and hope I get to shake some of your hands.

I have never gone to Chiller looking for autographs.
I've gottena few really good autographs over the years and love 'em. I even got a phot of me and Zacherli one year. I got a a autograph of Soupy Sales, now deceased as of the other day.

This year, Linda Blair, maybe. Everyone else, I see anyone I care to get. Maybe is Lon Chaney, Jack Pierce, Ray Harryhausen, Bela Lagosi or About and Costello or Boris Karloff showed, I'd be excited to get their mummies names on a picture of them. Last times through I wanted to get Linda Hamilton, but the line was way to long to think of fun to get it. I did bump into one of the stars from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. What a high that was ... right. And saw the guy from "I spy." Gosh it's terrible when you live long enough to remember stars when they were young. Man, I remember watching the Bozo the clown guy on the Bland and white TV. And the original Twilight shows. Yikes, somebody save me I'm in a time warp around here.

until,

Wayne's is loosely based upon the mythos of the characters. Not the Cinematic interpretations form that series of films. That kit was sculpted by John Cole I believe and was smaller at only 1/6th scale. Waynes is easily 1/4 scale.
Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality.

Chiller model contest 09 was fantastic!!! Great build ups all around, many impressive pieces!!! Its good to see that the model contest is still with us (we almost lost it due to lack of kits/interest a few years back) Now we have new life in the Hobby with the return of interest in styrene kits, new subjects, old favorites returning, and manufactures such as Moebius and Monarch,
I am sooo motivated for next year, can wait to dig in to my next kit! Gotta put my stock away, back into storage and clean up the house first though. Its a mess from doing the show all weekend, theres stuff all over the place!!
Glad to see everyone and start slinging that paint!!!
