Thanks for the shout bro. It was great meeting you and all the other fellas. Congrats again on the winnings. I was only able to attend saturday, but what great fun. I'm already looking forward to next year.jps3404 wrote:Monsterpalooza was incredible! I just got home, and I'm beaming.
Met some incredibly cool people today. Terry Webb, Ron Sherwood, John Hircock, and a few others from AFM were extremely gracious.
The AFM model contest was really cool, with about 40 submissions. I saw some very impressive work. I submitted 3 kits, and took home 3rd place for my Edison Frankenstein. My other submissions were Russ Lukich/Squidz Kitz "Master Barlow," and Paquet's Karloff Mummy ( I added that info for anyone who was at the show, and saw my entries. Thoughts?) The guy who took home overall first prize ( I forgot his name - sorry dude!) did a build-up of the Model Giants London after Midnight bust, and it was well deserved. Absolute killer work!
I also met Casey Love, who was way cool, and had an incredible display, along with Whitworth Studios. The built-ups they had were so amazing, that I practically begged Phil Sera, the guy who painted them to teach me his technique, and he was cool enough to lend a few pointers. I could have spent a grand at this table easily.
Mike Hill had a Wolfman/ Chaney lifesize display that was so beyond awesome that I stared at it for 10 minutes without blinking. On top of that, he's a really nice guy. Thanks Mike!
Simon Lee, aka Spiderzero, was there, and of course I was blown away by his stuff as well. He was incredibly cordial, and the build-ups he had were fantastic. I could have spent a grand at his table too.
I'd also like to give a shout out to Artist Proof Studios (I could have spent another grand), Shifflet Bros.(and another grand) DisturbedEarth (nice guy and one heck of a painter!) Jason Flink (another nice guy and another heck of a painter) Peter Murphy (his 1:1 Oldman Dracula was insane!) Jason Hite ( Where did this guy come from?! What an incredible artist!)
A HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!!
Thanks for posting!XOFACTO2 wrote:Found a link to more photos...
