Re: Monsterpalooza April 9 -11 2010
Monsterpalooza was incredible! I just got home, and I'm beaming.
Met some incredibly cool people today. Terry Webb, Ron Sherwood, John Hircock, and a few others from AFM were extremely gracious.
The AFM model contest was really cool, with about 40 submissions. I saw some very impressive work. I submitted 3 kits, and took home 3rd place for my Edison Frankenstein. My other submissions were Russ Lukich/Squidz Kitz "Master Barlow," and Paquet's Karloff Mummy ( I added that info for anyone who was at the show, and saw my entries. Thoughts?) The guy who took home overall first prize ( I forgot his name - sorry dude!) did a build-up of the Model Giants London after Midnight bust, and it was well deserved. Absolute killer work!
I also met Casey Love, who was way cool, and had an incredible display, along with Whitworth Studios. The built-ups they had were so amazing, that I practically begged Phil Sera, the guy who painted them to teach me his technique, and he was cool enough to lend a few pointers. I could have spent a grand at this table easily.
Mike Hill had a Wolfman/ Chaney lifesize display that was so beyond awesome that I stared at it for 10 minutes without blinking. On top of that, he's a really nice guy. Thanks Mike!
Simon Lee, aka Spiderzero, was there, and of course I was blown away by his stuff as well. He was incredibly cordial, and the build-ups he had were fantastic. I could have spent a grand at his table too.
I'd also like to give a shout out to Artist Proof Studios (I could have spent another grand), Shifflet Bros.(and another grand) DisturbedEarth (nice guy and one heck of a painter!) Jason Flink (another nice guy and another heck of a painter) Peter Murphy (his 1:1 Oldman Dracula was insane!) Jason Hite ( Where did this guy come from?! What an incredible artist!)
A HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!!

Re: Monsterpalooza April 9 -11 2010
Ian, unfrotunately, I didn't have time to take pics. Brought the camera and ment to do it, just didn't have time. Once I'm settled back in I'll give my report on the show. I'm sure there will be others who post a bunch of pics and I'm sure we'll be seeing those soon.
Found a thread at the UMA board with some pics... And these are just the tip of the iceberg...

Hey Everyone,
The show was a blast, it was so cool meeting so many people from the clubhouse!
I've got a couple hundred pics to sort through along with taking final pics of our collaboration sculpture we did at the show.
If any of you are on facebook you should check out Gabriel Garcia's photo page, he posted tons of cool pics!

I'll be sure to post mine later tonight.
Thanks again to everyone who stopped by!

Just got back to Vancouver, the show was a blast,i had a great time. After you are done buying kits, there is a ton of other stuff to look at.Anyone that was thinking about the show should go to the next one.I met a bunch of painters and builders and saw some familiar faces from past wonderfests.
The model contest was small but the build ups were all good.Had a great time hanging out with all my friends.
A great show
Todd

And a congrats to Todd for taking first place in the category he entered in. Well done, Todd!!!
On a side note, although there weren't ae many entries this year, the quality of the builtups was way up there. Glad I didn't have to judge.

Hey John,
You should be able to access it even if you're not a member.
If anyone's having trouble, Buc posted a link on his site here:

Thanks, but it still looks like you have to log in to see anything. Since I'm not a member, I couldn't get in.nmeyers wrote:Hey John,

Re: Monsterpalooza April 9 -11 2010
Probably the same link. Kind of cringe when I only get myspace
or facebook links because I know not everyone can see them.
Surprised there aren't more photo links out yet! Mike Hill's stuff
looked great and alot of familiar faces were there.
Happy to see everyone had a great time.

Re: Monsterpalooza April 9 -11 2010
I just got in a few hours ago, but I'll post up a few shots from this great show. If anyone has any doubts about going I highly recommend it, it was an absolute blast. I got to meet some of my favorite FX sculptors and painters, "in the flesh". And got to hang out with some of my painting friends too, what more could you ask for?
I'll post more pics later on FB and my site:
Note: The Swamp Witch has been PG'd for viewing...
