Monsterpalooza Airbrush Asylum 2012
On Friday the 13th (isn’t that fitting?) of April, Badger Airbrush Company, Amazing Figure Modeler Magazine, and Black Heart are teaming up for the first annual Monsterpalooza Airbrush Asylum, a 5-hour airbrushing seminar at Monsterpalooza 2012 in Burbank, California. The cost of the seminar is $299 and that cost includes: 1) a Badger Airbrush; 2) a Badger compressor; 3) Freak-Flex paints; 4) a 1:1 scale wall-hanger by Black Heart; 5) a coupon for 33% off your next Black Heart kit purchase; and 6) a coupon for 40% off your next Badger Airbrush purchase. This is a value of well over $750 for only $299.
In addition, participants will get 5 hours of instruction by Steve Riojas and Dan Colonna (writers for AFM); assisting them will be Ken Schlotfeldt (owner of Badger Airbrush Company), George Stephenson (owner of Black Heart), Mike “The Modeler” Reagan and other special guests. Sign up soon because the class will be capped at 16 participants in order to allow participants to get as much individualized instruction as possible. You’ll have fun, improve your modeling skills, meet some cool folks, and get some really cool stuff for a great price. We hope you can make it. To sign up, contact me at goblackheart@comcast.net. Paypal is accepted.

Re: Monsterpalooza Airbrush Asylum 2012
Good News: The class will start Friday the 13th at 11am and will end around 4pm. The actual convention doesn't start until 6pm. You AND your partner can take the class. We scheduled it this way so folks wouldn't miss out on other convention activities.
I've had folks contacting me about whether this class is for inexperienced or experienced airbrushers. FYI, we have something for you no matter how experienced or inexperienced you are. We already have three folks signed up who have no experience with an airbrush. We have one guy with lots of airbrushing experience who isd signing up to take advantage of the great deal being offered. And we have a modeler who is signing up because he never painted a 1:1 scale monster head and wants to give that a try with talented modelers showing him the way.
Frankly, I'm hoping I can learn a few things myself because I've never had anyone show me how to use an airbrush. I'm sure I'd be better at it if I got a few tips.
I had no idea there would be such an immediate response to this. Spots are filling up. So, if interested, sign up soon.

Sounds like a top notch time George! I'm working on attending the show, so if Mr. Webb isn't keeping me too busy, I can probably lend a hand here and there....

Re: Monsterpalooza Airbrush Asylum 2012
I can't wait. I've taken a 2-D airbrush art class a couple of years ago. I think this will be one of the best chances I can get to learn how to really use the airbrush on kits. Thanks for offering the Asylum.

Thanks George, Dan, Steve, Mike and Ken for a fantastic time at the asylum.
This was pretty much my first time taking the leap into the world of airbrushing and I walked away with, not only some great stuff, but with some important hands on experience and ecouragement from some of the best figure painters around.
It was also great to met some fellow "inmates" who, even though we had only met at the asylum, seemed like long lost friends.
Just a wonderful time all around..... thanks again guys.

Re: Monsterpalooza Airbrush Asylum 2012
Big thanks to all who attended, I sure hope everyone had good time. I'm so glad the atmosphere in the class was kept light and fun, it was really cool seeing everyone experimenting with the techniques we showed, then applying them in their own personal way and style creating completely different paint jobs instead of paint by numbers. It was great!
Also thanks to George and Ken for the killer set up and Monster Mike Reagan for being the hardest working guy in the hobby! These guys made everything first class!
Monster Makers at Monsterpalooza, how can you go wrong!

Re: Monsterpalooza Airbrush Asylum 2012
I too want to give big thanks to George, Dan, Steve, Mike and Ken for a fantastic, fun & fummy time at the asylum. (Fummy meaning you should have see all the mist in the room with all the airbrushing going on at one time! LOL) I've heard your names bantied around for years and to finally meet you all was an honor.
I want to also give a shout out to my table-mates; my friend David, who's not a member here (yet), and new friends Ken & Lee. Like Ken mentioned before, it's like he and Lee have been longtime friends who finally go to meet.
Ken, sorry you couldn't be there Saturday too. Lee, David and I won awards at the AFM Model Contest!
I'm all so ready to be there next year for another Asylum party!!!
