Monsterpalooza was awesome
My first Monsterpalooza was a blast. George from Blackheart had a fantastic airbrush class. Thanks again George. All of my stuff made it home safe from the plane ride. Yagher's Witch and Executioner, Blackhearts Thing and COTW, and Whitworth's Graf Orlock. Each piece is outstanding. Also took a pic of Blackhearts new Werewolf of London 1:1, also fantastic. I'll post some pic's tonight.

Hey,
It was great to meet you and I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I must admit being happy to be behind my table on Saturday...the aisles were PACKED!
Hope to see you next year!

The guy selling switchplates was number 77 I think. He was next to Adam.

Take a look at the floor plan and see if you can track him down. I was number 72 and he was behind 71 who was my neighbor.

There's a bunch of stuff getting posted to FB, so I hope someone with a better quality camera than mine posts higher quality pics here.

I got it. So new the painting is not finished. George is an awesome guy. He even brought my COTW 1:1 and hand delivered it. I am a huge COTW fan, the !:1 is incredible. You have to see them in person, magazines don't do justice.

My beloved additions to my collection.
Hope my executioner and COTW turn out as well as these are. Then again, there is no way I can compete with Mr. Fisher on the Executioner:)

Mike Hills Piece was amazing. Real hair and stuble on Pierce was unreal. I've seen the wax figures and you can tell they are not real. I think I stood in front of these for 30 minutes, unbelievable.

Re: Monsterpalooza was awesome
Here are the beginnings of my "Thing" that was included in the airbrush asylum. 4 hours of instruction was not enough. I still need to mist over several spots, do the eyes, maybe a wash to bring out the skin details. I'll be the first to sign up next year. I have been using the Badger Renegade Velocity, but the Krome version was so much more smooth and comfortable to use.

Re: Monsterpalooza was awesome
Larger than lifesize; I'd say it was about seven feet tall. Also, although it was slightly different, it was based on the monster from one of Adam's "Halloween Nightmare" kits:evildead wrote:I saw a pic of Kreaturekids table. There was a lifesize Shock monster at his table. Looked amazing ...
My buddy and I were standing in front of it and, since he doesn't really keep up on current events in the modeling hobby these days, I was explaining to him where this particular monster was from, and I began to tell him what little I know about Adam, described some of the work he's done, and how talented he is, when we noticed a young man standing next to us listening to our conversation. After I'd finished praising Adam's work, the young man said to me, "Oh, you were serious? I thought you were kidding around with me." Yep, you guessed it, the young man was none other than Adam Dougherty. He introduced himself, and as we chatted I realized it was his booth we were standing in front of. Duh. "Master of the Obvious", that's me. Considering I've been a fan of his sculptures for several years now, meeting him was the highlight of my day, and I get the sense he's genuinely appreciative that so many people like what he does.
Among all of the amazing displays of talent, the other ones that stood out for me were Mike Hill's 1:1 scale displays of Jack Pierce and Boris Karloff as the Mummy, and Rick Baker and David Naughton as the werewolf from An American Werewolf In London, side-by-side. These photos are quite large, so I'll post links instead:
Jack Pierce and Boris Karloff
David Naughton and Rick Baker
EDIT: NW Monster beat me to it, but I'll leave the links for those who might like to see larger photos of Mike Hill's amazing work.
Monsterpalooza is a lot of fun, but it's become so popular that I think it's time for them to move to a larger venue. Aside from standing in line more than 90 minutes just to get in the door, it was so crowded inside that we spent half our time standing in one spot waiting for the crowd to clear enough for us to take a few steps. Still, it's worth attending if for no other reason than to see all the goodies in person, and to have the opportunity to meet some of the artists whose work I've admired all these years.
The older I get, the better it was.

Re: Monsterpalooza was awesome
I only have one shot so far as Jeff Camp took most of the pics. This is me and Casey Love. Casey is holding a piece I purchased from him at the show, beautiful work! I hung out with the AFM boys for most of the weekend and had a blast.
