So true.

The terrible news still doesn't seem real.

John came along here shortly after me and we hit it off right away. Then I had the pleasure of meeting him at WF in 2005. Shortly after I went through a bad divorce and through PM's he kept my head up. We met again at WF 2009 and spent some quality time wandering the different rooms. John was awesome to say the least. The thing I really appreciated was our love for the comics. Whenever I would be away for extended periods he would give me a heads up on the things he knew I would be interested in. Sadly it was last September (2015) when I was in contact with him. He dropped me a line on a jungle girl kit thats still ITB. :(
Just an all out great guy and friend.

Thinking about him today and ran across this poem.
Not the entire poem but the part I think tells it all.

"Each minute bursts in the burning room,
The great globe reels in the solar fire,
Spinning the trivial and unique away.
(How all things flash! How all things flare!)
What am I now that I was then?
May memory restore again and again
The smallest color of the smallest day:
Time is the school in which we learn,
Time is the fire in which we burn. "

Rest in Peace John "Raydrz". Since I am mostly retired from the hobby I only just found out yesterday. When I was active in the late 2000s, I enjoyed speaking to John about models, life, etc here on the Clubhouse all the time. Always supportive, always positive, always on a first name basis. Same age as me too. You will be missed - and remembered.

Wow, I don't know, but does look familiar. I have seen several of his build ups show up since the auction either in collections or up for sale like this.

I knew it looked familiar . I remember when he had entered kit at show. Tom Savini was there and has asked me about it. Thats alot of money hes asking as compared to what was paid. Talk about markup.

John loved that kit and was really proud of his buildup (he won a MERIT at Wonderfest 2012 for it).

Wish the auction had been won by someone who would have cherished it instead of just wanting to make some money from it.

I came in here to read and post about Tom's passing, I didn't know John had passed on too it's so hard to read about him and Tom. it's been awhile since I lasted stopped into the monkey bars, I usually only check out the sculpting forum, Heros and styrene. They were Two Great Guys who loved the hobby and the Clubhouse too. They both left us far to seen.

It’s now a year since we lost our dear friend & brother.

I can honestly say that during that year, not a single day has gone by where I haven’t thought of him.

I’m on the Clubhouse every day, and because of John’s prolific activity here, I am always bumping into posts he made.

Also, when his estate auctions took place back in June, I made a point of buying many of his unbuilt kits, buildups, magazines, T-shirts & banners, and I tracked down several of his Wonderfest awards. These surround me in my office, and are placed so that I see some of them no matter what direction I am facing.

He was a DAMN good friend to many of us . . . always cheerful, always keen to help. And even though he carried out a challenging role as a moderator here, I VERY rarely saw people taking issue with John. Those that WERE rude or disrespectful were always the regular troublecausers / trolls.

Fact is – John was pretty-much universally loved, admired and respected.

He’s left quite a legacy in this community, and in our hearts.

We’re still missing you John . . . we’re still very glad we knew you . . . and we're appreciative for the friendships we’ll always cherish.

Thanks for sharing this, I agree wholeheartedly with every word you said. I really miss him a lot. I was able to get 5 of his kits, and each one I build I will dedicate to John.

I'm hoping to do something special as a tribute for John in the next year.

That was a really nice tribute, reminding me of John and all the others we lost way too soon.

The year seemed so different without John.

He remains an inspirational presence and the source of so many of the happiest memories from the GK world.
