When Thanksgiving time rolls around, one of the first things I think of is John's passing. It was really a shock, and he was a year younger than me.

Yeah, shock is an understatement.

And he is still sorely missed.
Both at WF, and here on the boards. He always brought so much life and enthusiasm with him.

It seems so much longer than 4 years.
I really do miss that big lug.

Every time I think of John it is a pleasant, happy thought of fun, friendship, and his limitless enthusiasm for the hobby. He is still a presence. :D

I haven't been on these boards in eons. Possibly since before John's passing. But this past weekend was the second year of a cancelled G-Fest. I got to know John years ago at G-fest and was a main reason for my going eventually. We were sitting around on Google Meets this past weekend, doing our own virtual G-Fest, and started talking about John again. Since John's passing another close G-Fest friend had passed.
A big regret I have is never having bought John's "Zombiezilla" kit. He did a few of them. He got the idea to do them from my name on here. When I went to his house for a modeling lesson (he took pity on how bad I was) he showed me the paint job. Then I saw him selling them and should have bought one of them, but didn't.
Did somebody here end up with the kit? If so, could you post a picture of it?
I agree with all the sentiments, I miss the guy a ton. I really miss how wonderful he was when he would see my kids at G-Fest. He was always sooooo nice to both my kids, and they both adored him. Just a genuinely wonderful human being.

Hi Carl

Good to see a post from you after all this time. Hope you & yours are doing well in these crazy days.

Would love to see a pic of that kit.

And as regards THIS . . .

Hey Spike! Good to be stopping in here again.
I find there to be a strange coincidence in the fact that the day after (two days after?) I made that post Iron Maiden goes and releases a new single! I had no idea that was coming. A little shoutout to John, even if it is new Maiden and he never held that to very high esteem.

If you make another 6 posts they might release the album! :)

I think John might have liked the new single - has some of that blues / Southern-rock feel that he (same as me) enjoyed.

Five years since our friend John left us - in body but not in spirit.

In some ways it seems like a long time ago, and yet it also feels like yesterday.

Still missing you Bro'.

We're now 6 years on from when "raydrz" left us.

I hope it doesn't seem morbid posting on this date rather than his Birthday (May 8th), but I don't like the year to go by without reminding everyone what he meant to this forum/community.

One of the good ones for sure - and I'm so appreciative of the friendship & trust we shared.

Still miss you John.

Same. I think of John while I am laying around in my food coma after the holiday meal.
I have also been thinking about him more lately as I have been working out some shelves to display his build ups that I bought in that auction. Hopefully in a week or so I will have most of them all gathered in one place on display.

I also think, if you have to go, not waking up after a nap is probably one of the better ways to leave.

I personally would prefer a heart attack brought on by two hookers and an 8-Ball but napping and surrounded by loved ones is pretty good too.
I sure do miss him though.
