I am so sad to hear this..John...he was such a good friend to me..He always let me share his table at G-Fest to sell a few things and did not want anything in return, so I would take him out to dinner and like last year, bought him a Godzilla T-Shirt. We saw movies together a few times too. One of the few people I met here that I ended up knowing personally and had his phone number so we could text or chat once in a while.

G-Fest, and the Stomping Grounds here will never be the same for me without John. I will sure miss you man...

John always seemed to know the answer about any kaiju model question. A terrible loss for this community...

I am glad he was able to spend time with family and have a nice meal, and it happened in his sleep, peacefully. If one has to go, that was a good way to go..but way too soon... This is hard...

I saw this last night; and was so surprised and saddened that I didn't know how to respond...I still don't.
We talked at WF, and several times by PM.
This is just so out of the blue...

I saw this and it took a bit before I could could actually sit and type anything to say about it...

John was genuinely one of the most thoughtful, caring and freindly guys I have ever had the pleasure to have known in this community of ours.... I remember trying to convince him to be a moderator for us all those years ago and how his biggest concern was that he felt he wouldn't be able to offer anything useful or be of any assistance to anyone. He told me

"" Im just a regular guy and my modeling skills are nothing compared to everyone else here, how am I gonna' be able to assist anyone? Everybody here is so talented and awesome... I can't offer them anything ""

Well John... I'd venture to say you were definitely wrong about that, your presence, hobby knowledge and cheerful "do anything to help" attitude is going to be missed. Goodbye my friend, I'll always hold you in my thoughts.

Always a pleasure to read and to speak to him. Helpful and friendly all of the time. Really, really going to miss him.

I have been away for a few years and I just started building again, just logged on and read this. Although I didnt meet John, he was a hell of a nice guy. Always helpful when a question was asked, and I remember he even helped run down a kit I was looking for. Sad to hear.

He is In my thoughts today.

John was one of the nicest guys here at the Clubhouse....loved him!
We loved Kaiju kits and playing blues music. Always enjoyed talking to John at Wonderfest.
We exchanged resin just 5 days ago. I am shocked and saddened . Alot of people make the transition
at this time of year.... :scatter:

Still hard to believe that John is gone. Don't know what else to say, talked to him for years, one of my earliest friends on facebook. He will definitely be missed by many.

I don't even know what to say. This is so sad. He was always such an upbeat and nice guy.

A tragic loss.

My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. So very sad.

I thought I would share a photo that I took a couple years ago of John at his table at G-Fest. This is how I will remember him, especially how he would sell his "zombiezillas", everyone loved them.

A great loss to the clubhouse and to his friends and family. Sleep well good sir.

Now that I have had a few more days to process this news I am going to make another post about John.

First, he will sorely be missed at WF. I have so many good memories of him there.
Even though we didn't get to hang out a ton, because he was usually busy running around, making deals, checking things out, and trying to spend time with everyone. But I will miss crossing paths with him. Talking deals in the dealers room (he once turned me on to some goodies that AFM had sitting under their table that I had completely missed), critiquing builds in the contest room, and busting chops with my daughter about her not wearing her Maiden shirts.
(the one year, she forgot to pack any so she put a sticker on her shirt that said Iron Maiden just for that reason. )
This is how I will always remember him there.

Here at the Clubhouse though, he leaves a huge hole.
Especially for me. We had so much in common. His absence is really going to be felt in the Stomping Grounds and Jukebox. He was very active in both, which don't see a lot of traffic.
But he will be missed elsewhere too. He was always helpful and informative. Tried to get along with everyone. Ignored most of the bullcrap that comes with being a moderator here and just did the job. That quote from Mark is classic John. Very humble and unassuming.
Things will not be the same without him.
I am so lucky to have met John, and will miss him terribly now that he is gone.

We all lost a brother in his passing. There's now an empty chair in the Clubhouse that can never be filled.
