He was a great, great dinosaur sculptor in the 1990s and early 2000s, and many of his works can be seen at Disney's Animal Kingdom (near the "Dinosaur" movie ride). Some of his iconic - if not quite accurate by contemporary standards - dinosaur resin sculpts are still being sold by the Favorite Co. of Japan, for whom he sculpted a number of fine works. Rest in Peace.

That's very sad. He also did the Dark Horse Bride and Screamin's 1/4 scale Freddy Kreuger and Jason Vorhees.

Thanks posting this scuzz.

Mike was also a hugely talented sculptor of paleo and American West subjects and special effects artist. He was, for example, one of the lead animators that brought the T-rex to life in Jurassic Park and won Oscars for that film and Terminator 2.

His best years were still ahead of him. A great loss.

Looks like he died in late January. Only 64 years old, damn. As I recall, I only had one direct dealing with him, more than 15 years ago when I bought his Billiken Bride of Frankenstein. He told me he'd used it as a reference while sculpting the character for Dark Horse. Nice guy, very talented.
