Ok, I know I'm not the only one out there who looks at everyday household objects and see's something else. Well, my daughter had just tossed this mousse canister in the trash when the idea struck me...turn it into a space ship of sorts. Now, being an avid armor modeler I have a metric crap ton of spare parts and decided to put them to use. Anyway, long of the short is....this is what I came up with. Hope you like it. "Q"

Brilliant!

I have a couple of those and all I could think of was making them into castle towers. I like your idea much better!

Great job, I love building some kind of craft from items not normally used for model building, I made a martian research vehicle from two toy ray guns, was quite a project and tons of fun, thanks for sharing. Karl

I've been playing with ideas like this off and on and you start looking at everything as a potential "model" project. Once you do one then you can't stop!

Fantastic build...

....somehow, the most simple builds are usually the best....who would ever have thought an inanimate throw away item could be turned into an imposing and beautiful space gunship.

Well done...

I love the whole idea of space travel. I saw a programme on TV the other night. It was about the Voyager satellites. After so many years in space and the ability with 1970's technology on-board to still communicate with us....it will still take about 40 thousand years for one of them to reach our next nearest star at it's present speed, and if it could travel at the speed of light it would take 4 years, and that is just in our own galaxy....with billions of other galaxies like ours out there......how could there not be life elsewhere...I mean...come on.....

Great job.....and no your not the only one who collects anything and nothing for scratch building, I have 10 storage boxes full of kit bits and old toys and and plastic item that takes my fancy..

Thanks for the kind words all, much appreciated. Glad you like it. I have several storage boxes where I put my spares, extras and found items in. They have served me well over the years. I have a few more of these in the works. Hopefully if I can get some time in at the bench, I'll share some wip pics with you. Thanks again, "Q"

Very cool! And great idea using the mousse canister for the hull. Love seeing the in progress shots, too. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration. I have a couple of empty Avon shampoo bottles that I've been saving for something similar. They make me think of the Kilrathi capital ships from the movie Wing Commander.

Very cool. And inventive. I thought I was the only one afflicted with this. I swear, I can't turn around without spying something that wouldn't make the basis of a cool starship, or be used as greebly somewhere on another build up!

Reminds me of the old days when the Galactica would pass by the screen and you could pick out all the model tank parts. I had a garage full of cannibalized kits just waiting for a surface to be attached to. Brilliant job, mate.

I currently have 4 2'x2'x4' bins of parts broken down by subject, armor, aircraft, auto and other for just such purposes. Each bin is near max capacity. I have a junked Andrea Miniatures 1/32 U-boat hull that is screaming for a steampunk theme to be applied to it...I have a feeling a lot of the parts/piece in my bins will find their way onto this when if and when it comes to fruition.
