Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you... THE BEAST!!!!!

#1 Post by splake »

It has been a long haul. No kit building for a few months, I have been working on my new Booth 20 minutes at a time.

SHES Pulling 1100 CFM's. I have many Huge Kits that I have to build ( thanks to sPAWNY!) and I wanted to build a booththat pulled the perfect amount of CFM's , and was able to fit the huge kits, and also my wife was Also complaining about the smell of primer.

I Computed the correct calculation, knowing i would be using flex which give back some CFM'S.

She is 52" in length, 29 High and 26 deep.

I bit the bullet. My brother moved ( and so did my tools) so I had to buy a new MILWAUKEE drill, 2 hole saws, a new BOSCH jig saw,and a MLWAUKEE circular saw.

The beast has two 550 cfm Dayton blowers. She has a menards vinyl basement pop out window jigged in the top of her, 3/4 plywood, she takes two 24 or 25" filters, metal lath and a 2" plenum area the width of her, she vents out my basement window, thanks to Amazon I popped on the perfect 6" flex tubing. I hope to be christening the Bizmark this weekend.

Here are some pictures of her-

Gorgeous! I build a lot of dinosaur kits, most of which are within the 26-30 inches range. My father built one for me out of a rubbermaid, but it doesn't fit most of my kits :(

Wish I had the ability to build one as intricate and large as yours. Well done, man.

Not knowing anything about booths I need to ask, Why would you want the top to be hinged? I figured glass would be good for light but are there other reasons a hinge on the roof would help or is that just a bonus because of using a window?

The hinge came with the window unit. Which is a sealed unit. I can hinge the window and spray from above, for instance, if I am giving a lighter effect with a lighter paint than the basecoat.

That would be really nice for winter-spraying. I tend not to build as many kits during the winter because I can't primer-coat or dull-coat. During spring/summer, I just drag my model into the yard, lay down some newspaper and spray away. Pretty cool set-up you got there. I use to have access to a spray booth at one of my jobs many years back. They are convenient during the cold weather.

Looks awesome....knowing what you've got to work on I think you'll get a lot of use out of it.
