Creatures Cruiser WIP

#1 Post by dj53 »

Hey Guys....I'm working on The Creatures Cruiser... Bashing these 3 kits together (I'll probably add more kits to keep it interesting :))

This is my first time replicating water...
I'm making this one a fun dio in the vein of Weird-ohs meets Aurora meets Mad Magazine meets
Mcdees twisted mind...
Anyway it is nowhere near finished but I want your opinion on my attempt at water... if all goes well I should be done in a couple of weeks....
Here is a wip shot...

I think the water is very nice. I'd like to know how you did it.

Took a piece of Styrofoam and painted it Blue...

Took a tube of Clear silicone caulking and squirted the whole thing randomly over the surface (goes on white dries clear)
Image
Smeared it around with a plastic spoon and also 'stippled it with the spoon

That hole I gouged out is for the hull of the Boat the Creature will be perched in... I set it aside for a week to allow to dry and cure...
I'm creating the splash off the hull by cutting up a plastic water bottle (5 gallon type) and after imbedding it into the Styrofoam base and crazy gluing it to the hull of the boat....I'm giving it the silicone/spoon treatment ...
Image
I should mention that I'm using PAINTABLE Silicone

Really cool idea.

And great WIP pics.
I would have never thought of that for the water. And I think it turned out really well.
