Re: Halcyon Dog Burster Head Re-sculpt WIP small update 6/15
Looks great! WOW , that's my favorite "Alien."
Re: the cracks in the primer, I used to get that every now and then when I used Tamiya primer. But I would just give a light second coat to the cracked area and it would be gone. IDK sometimes I would see it other times I wouldn't, but the 2d spray always worked. Can't wait for the next WIP pics.

Yeah, theses crack were too deep to cover with primer, but a little bit a glazing compound filled them right in.
Thanks!sleepyhead wrote:Nice work here. Any new progress?
Not much progress, but working on the other side of the head detail.
Gonna try to finish that up tonight and start on the transition of the head to the neck of the kit.

Absolute top work! I can IMAGINE how it will possibly look when finished but this neck area is real greatly done. Do you plan to add more details to the Body and Legs??

I agree! One of the features of the original kit that I don't care for are the legs and joints. I'm ready to take a cutting tool to my Dog Burster and remove them!

Maybe they should have taken your sculpt as a Master
, looks absolute stunning, crisp and clean. A very very good work! Hope, you will change the Body, too!

Hey not bad!
How will you fix or make the transition between torso and neck?

I love how this project has grown - just the sort of ambition that's inspirational in kit building! The new head looks fantastic and worlds better than the original - did you have any difficulty getting the SS Firm to adhere to the baked Super Sculpey, since it was a smooth surface? In my limited experience it can be tough getting it to grab on a surface like that.

Thank you! I am happy with the way it turned out, hopefully I can get it molded soon and start on the transition.schmuckrat wrote:I love how this project has grown - just the sort of ambition that's inspirational in kit building! I had no problems with firm sticking to the already baked SS reg surface. I did build it up in thin layers, so that may have helped it stick better.
