BlackHeart's BELA LUGOSI - Silverscreen version

#1 Post by Crazy Joe »

Ok, Clubhousers. This is it for a while. Just finished this up for another happy customer. I think this one's one of my wife's favorites that I've done, and that's saying something.

EXCEPTIONAL sculpting by Jeff Yagher - it practically paints itself when it hits the workbench -

Thanks for looking and all of the affirmation on the other things I've posted in the past week -

A truly impressive build! He looks incredible in monochrome.

Sensational!

Incredible work Joe.
Even though it's monochrome, it still looks very much lifelike. Like somebody took a sepia toned photo.

THOSE - you gotta do yourself...

Hey, thanks everyone for the props! The two people I'm MOST happy that dig it are the customer I painted it for, and George Stephenson, the distributor...

That is insanely good. What did you use to paint this if you don't mind me asking? Did you use pastels, oils, acrylics, combination? I want to paint my Herman Munster bust in black and white so curious what people use that obviously got this black and white thing down.

Hey, thanks, Tom!
What did you use to paint this if you don't mind me asking?
Not at all. It was primed with Rustoleum primer, basecoated with Testor Acryl light grey, glazed with anthracite glaze (basically black!) and shaded/highlighted/detailed with Golden's Airbrush colours. I misted a little Raw Umber Nuance over it when I was done (far more conspicuous in the photos than to the eye) and hit the irises with a little nuance French Blue. The major colours I used were Titan Buff, Titanium White, Shading Grey, Neutral Grey, and Charcoal Black. Easy. Especially with Yagher's sculpt...
