Noted actor Sir Christopher Lee has passed away at the age of 93, after being hospitalized for respiratory problems and heart failure. See the obituary from the Guardian here: http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/ju ... 93-dracula

Rest in peace sir, you will be sorely missed.

I'm assuming that he was the last of the horror greats?

Sad day...

To say I'm totally devastated by Lee's passing would be an understatement, he was one of my all time favorite horror actors.

Sad day to say the least!

Ricou Browning is still alive at age 84, he did all the memorable underwater Creature action scenes in the 1954 movie "The Creature From The Black Lagoon," but never seemed to get the recognition that Ben Chapman got, no discredit to Ben intended!
Although not a monster figure as such, Thank the Lord we still have Julia Adams!

Sad yes but it brings a smile to my face thinking of all the roles he played from Dracula to the Man with the Golden Gun to Saruman and all. A very talented man married 54 years. A loss but he leaves behind an undeniable legacy in many ways that won't be forgotten ever I suspect

I read that his wife wanted to keep it private until all family members and friends were informed, which is an understandable sentiment, one which I admire in this age of instant notice to all and sundry via The Net.

I was told by someone I work with who didn't want it to be shock. It's no secret that I have the utmost admiration for Christopher. He's been a hero to me from the time I was a junior monster fan. In 1999 I had the great pleasure of meeting him at the Monster Rally show along with his lovely wife Gitte. I will never forget his kindness, warmth and humor.

His work is an enduring source of joy for me, as it is for so many others, and my heart sincerely goes out to Gitte, Christina and family. An era has indeed ended, but the work of all those who created the "monster kid era" remains to be relived over again whenever we desire.

Rest well Sir Christopher-

I was a member of the Christopher Lee fan club in the late sixties!
He was the best Dracula for blood and evil on screen :vampire:
His legacy with Peter Cushing is a horror fan's dream.
I am also glad he made the appearances into Star Wars, as he was really into our MonsterKid psyche .
Thanks Christopher for all the monster memories!!

He had such a great voice. Loved it whenever he would cameo in a Tim Burton film but I'll always know him as Saruman. I never realized he was Scaramanga until just now.
IMDB gives him 281 actor credits dating back to 1946
