My 1966 Batmobile Diorama

#1 Post by JOHN ROBINSON »

My 1/25 Polar Lights 1966 Batmobile build/Diorama...Here's what I did. The kit's beacon was discarded and replaced with an aluminum accurate one, the indicator lights on the either side of the roll bar were sanded smooth and replaced with actual lenses, the canopies were dipped in future to give them a more realistic finish, Photo etched parts, Cut aluminum tubing replaced the kit's supplied rocket launchers, the car was air brushed using my IWATA system several coats of Tamiya black, wet sanded in between applications then waxed for a super high gloss shine, the pin striping was applied by hand to reflect the Glowing Cerise used on the actual car,the car's suspension was lowered to reflect the stance of the real Batmobile, the kit rims were discarded and replaced with accurate Radar rims.

The Diorama was constructed using Cut drywall, Plaster and a lot of stuff from my back yard....

Awesome! Great concepts and execution! I thought the lower photo was a reference you used for comparison!

Another masterpiece from you! OK, those elder car designs are not my cup of tea, BUT when done so cool like here, they are very enjoyable to watch! The Base ROCKS! But be sure to have the flowers sealed good to avoid uncool rotting action (I have used hairspray for similar ideas...)

Great work at all!

Nice work. That second pic almost looks like a screencap from the show.

Looks great. It brings back a lot of good memories, running home from school to watch Batman.

A few years ago I visited CA, and stopped by the Batcave. What a disappointment. I really didn't know what to expect,. but I did expect a little something more than a non-descript hole in the wall...
