Need help IDing some netting used for masking/patterns?

#1 Post by justinyattaw1 »

Hey, guys.

There's a pretty talented artist on Facebook whose work I follow and after seeing some of the results she achieved, I asked what she used to mask off the area, and she replied with this picture.

Unfortunately, there's a bit of a language barrier, and it's kind of hit or miss on whether we understand one another, so I figured someone here may know?

The item in question is shown in the pic below. It's some sort of fine mesh. I've tried tulle with very poor success, so I don't think that's what it is.

Any ideas?

just looks like a piece of mesh cloth that was cut to size.

But how does it help mask off an area with holes in it? Unless you are using it for a pattern.

No, it is, I'll have to edit the topic title.

When you spray through it, you get a really fine patterning that looks great for a ton of different effects.

I've tried to find mesh netting and cloth that's similar but just haven't had any luck.

fabric or craft store. I include a piece of black just like this with my Tank Girl kit. Great for fish net stockings.

Thanks for the responses, guys! I'll check Jo-Ann Fabrics or something, see what turns up.

Jo-Ann Fabrics is where I buy mine. Just tell them you are looking for a "very tight" fishnet. Sell it by the yard.

Yeah, like I said in the original post, that's what I thought it was, too, but it just doesn't work for what I'm trying to do. It's too light and just gets blown all over when I spray over it. Or maybe the stuff I got off Amazon is just wicked cheap, I dunno. When I used it, it didn't do what I was going for. I was looking for an effect like the eye on the piece below, but I got a mess, lol

If you want a good hexagonal mask - suggest you try the ones made by anarchy models.

They come in different sizes in fine latex, work great for models.
