Next show on the agenda is KISS next week Aug 15 at the Illinois State Fair. Hope the weather holds out that day!

Re: Next concert on the calandar
Just saw KISS last night.
Had a great time.
The guys still put on a hell of a show, even if Paul seems to be loosing his voice. The song selection kept that from being a big issue though. So a very enjoyable show.
For an example, check out this video from last night, and see what I mean about Paul.

And here is the setlist.
I was really pleasantly surprised they played Flaming Youth.
Detroit Rock City
Deuce
Shout It Out Loud
Do You Love Me
I Love It Loud
Flaming Youth
Bass Solo
God of Thunder
Psycho Circus
Shock Me
Guitar Solo
Cold Gin
Lick It Up
War Machine
Love Gun
Black Diamond
Encore:
Beth
The Star-Spangled Banner
Rock and Roll All Nite

Re: Next concert on the calandar
Same here - Paul's voice was blown out at the Springfield, IL show but they seemed to use a setlist that used more of Gene's vocals and Eric & Tommy did a little too. They still give a great show though especially given their ages - not sure I could last that long under the lights and heat with those costumes.
How did you like Dead Daisies Trevor? I think a lot of people were pleasantly surprised. I have seen them in the past. A friend of mine who lives in St. Louis played in the band until Guns and Roses went on tour - he has been in GNR for around 10 years or so. He is Richard Fortus - played with Thin Lizzie a few years ago too.

Re: Next concert on the calandar
Pleasantly surprised is exactly the way I would describe it.
I had no idea what to expect, so when they started (early BTW) it was interesting.
To friends I have been describing them as a good 80's rock band that lacks any kind of hook.
Not hair metal, but just well done 80's rock. There just isn't anything that makes it memorable.
No one song that gets in your head, or unique sound, nothing.
I enjoyed it, but really remember nothing about it.

Yeah, they are a good opening act band. They sound good enough to make it enjoyable but I don't think they could ever headline a show. I've seen some really terrible opening acts in the past. At least you felt like you got your money's worth from the whole show.

The Dead Daisies? . . . hmmmm . . . . . well THIS is an AWESOME cover (the audience liked it too) - and I think the entire new album's pretty impressive

I haven't heard their new album yet - will have to check it out. At the KISS show they did a cover of Fortunate Son. Was done a little heavier - I liked their version.

We got that cover, Fortunate Son, and Helter Skelter.

The only original song they did that left any impression on me was

Re: Next concert on the calandar
I may, or may not be going to see Rob Zombie in a couple weeks.
He's playing the Warner Theater and they have a special on tickets tomorrow.
Will see what is available when I get home from work and decide then.

Theres a surprising amount of talent in the Dead Daisies. I was always a fan of Marco Mendoza with Nugent, Whitesnake, and Thin Lizzy. And Doug Aldrich from Whitesnake. Not to mention John Corabi from Motley Crue although I'm not really familiar with his work with them. Seems like they are a good straight up rock and roll band.

Very impressed by the sound of the vocalist too - I also hadn't heard anything else by him prior to this stuff, and it was his voice and Doug's guitar work that eventually sold me.

Corabi also did a couple albums with The Eric Singer Project, around the time he was out of KISS during the reunion. Bruce Kulick also from KISS was also in it. I have both the CD's- they were pretty good.

Went to see Alice Cooper a few nights ago. I actually had a VIP meet and greet package thanks to my very sweet (and I now believe insane) daughter. I really wish I thought to get familiar with my wifes camera because I took a ton of pictures and got only a handfull of decent shots. Heres a few of them. The show was great and his band is, I think, the best band he's had yet.

Always a good time when it comes to a Cooper show.
I agree about the band. When I saw them back in 2012 they just seemed a great fit.
And looked like they were having a lot of fun while doing it.
So jealous about the meet-and-greet.

Re: Next concert on the calandar
I saw three great shows this week in Music City - legendary guitarist Wayne Moss, singer-songwriter Steve Earle, and the Queen of Rock'n'Roll, Wanda Jackson.
I guess most people know Earle and Jackson, but Moss is one of those guys mainly known to other musicians. He was the founder of country virtuoso showcases Area Code 615 and Barefoot Jerry, and one of the busiest Nashville session musicians in the 60s and 70s. That iconic lick at the beginning of Orbison's Pretty Woman - that's him. Sheila, Rainy Day Women #12 & 35, Working Man Blues, D-I-V-O-R-C-E, Jolene, Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line - pretty much every good pop, folk, rock, or country record cut in Nashville in those days has Moss on it.
