RIP George A Romero

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, l just wanted to pay my respects to the zombie king, another great creative genius has gone! :(

His films were ground breaking and spawned some of the finest garage kits out there. Bub and Dr tongue wouldn't exist had it not been for Mr Romero.

RIP George Romero

#5 Post by Chas K »

Just learned legendary film-maker, writer, director George A Romero passed away Sunday 7/16/17, at age 77, from lung cancer.

I've always been a fan and I met him several times, first in the early 1970's. He always impressed me as a genial, friendly, humble and very talented guy.

I will miss him. Rest in Peace, George.

I have been a huge fan since I was very young.
George actually sent me a hand written letter in 1979.
Imagine going to your mail box and finding this lol.
I still have it cherished item.
Romero was the King of The living Dead.

WOW!
Very cool!

I had a few things from George but lost them in a house fire.

Also a couple NOTLD kits.
The best, in my opinion, is the 'Graveyard Zombie' produced by Geo and sculpted by Joe Simon.
Excellent likeness and pose. Still available, I believe.

I agree with you there, but William Paquet's 'Dr tongue' for KDM / Alternative Images has top marks for gruesome horror! Day of the dead is my favorite of the Romero series and when it comes to sculpting the undead, William is the zombie master IMHO. His understanding of anatomy and sense of design is masterful.

He was a true visionary.

He didn't have the big budgets or the studios behind him, but every film broke ground and had a message, whether it was well written, acted or not.
Plausible deniability.
