-Dracula ( Coppola's Bram Stokers Dracula 1992)
What a great year was 1992 for me mostly because director Francis Ford Coppola decided to make what became an instant classic with the film "Bram Stokers Dracula". Starring the incredible Gary Oldman in the title role.
A few model kits have been created throughout the years of the iconic characters from the film which still hold dear in my personal collection but last year a new sculpture was created by the talented hands of sculptor Jeff Yagher for Garage kit company "Pestilence Labs". Company owner Mark Warthling decided to start with Anthony Hopkins as "Abraham Van Helsing" called the "The Release" depicting Van Helsing on the castle grounds holding the severed heads of the brides. It was an overall hit and a must have for fans of the film.
Well, fast forward to the new year and Mark Warthling decided to continue the line and once again hire the amazing Jeff Yagher, this time there was no doubt that Old man Dracula had to be done.
The scene he chose was when Dracula came floating through the window and briefly distorted himself with anger when viewing the brides trying to feast and seduce Jonathon Harker.
Once again Jeff Yagher captured the scene perfectly with the pose, detail and incredible likeness.
Each 1/6 scale resin kit comes in 8 resin parts that plug in perfectly. The castings were near perfect, done by the talented and never disappointing mold maker Mark Brokaw.
As an added bonus, Mark Warthling includes an aged yellow parchment like envelope sealed with Dracula's wax seal which includes a letter from our friend "D" and two beautiful decals of the golden dragons to be placed of each side of his breast area on his robe. Instructions are also included for the decals.
As i was painting this beautiful sculpt i decided to add an extra personal touch. I purchased a thin sheet of black craft foam from Michaels and cut out the shape of the castle's window. I then painted with an airbrush a night scene of the moon and dark clouds. Thought it would make a cool effect.
Over all, this is one of the finest model kits representing Vlad in all it's glory!
To purchase this beauty you may contact Mark Warthling here on The Clubhose (Kitbuilder).
Until then, don't forget the crucifix and garlic....you'll need it!
Cost of the kit is 230.00 which includes shipping within the US
International shipping will be determined by location.
Thanks for looking,
Saul
