Interesting - thanks for sharing Susan :thumb2:

Liked his observations, but he repeatedly missed the point that it was a skill-testing / training session.

Arya wasn't TRYING to cut Brienne - she was showing that she has the skill to do so if she had utilised another weapon.

He's looking at it from a historical perspective and that type of blade cannot cut. However they (the show) has implied that it does have a cutting edge, like when she sliced the candle to snuff it out.

In actuality it is a thrusting weapon like an epee not a sabre.

  • Doesn't have to have a cutting edge to take out a candle :)

  • I know - and he stated that in the video. It's possible you missed my point (pun not intended) though . . .

A White Walker Dragon? Yeah, that totally took me by surprise.
I actually discussed this with a coworker about a week (or so) ago. It just made sense to me that an ice spear would kill a fire-breathing dragon, and then the Night King would re-animate it. I was pretty sure it would happen, just not this soon. I see bad times ahead for the Wall (and the North), while everyone's away in King's Landing trying to put a coalition together.

On another note...anyone else think Sansa sent Brienne away to make it easier for her to kill Arya?

And, is Bran the worst character ever? What good is a seer, if he just sits in the Godswood, and has uncomfortable talks with his sister about her being raped? I know he's the key to the revelation about Jon's parentage, but it seems a waste if that's all he does.

I guess. The dead bear as a reminder that the WW can turn the dead and then when Dany decided she'd go save Jon and the boys had me anticipating it. I'd say the only thing that really surprised me was that the night king could one shot a dragon. Though I'm more concerned with a few nitpicks that I'm sure no one's in the mood for :D .

and thus Viserion the White becomes Viserion the Wight.

anyone else catch the bit about Rhagar getting an annulment and marrying someone else in Dorne? Means Jon's not a bastard and has a better claim to the throne than Dany.
I really do think Arya need to get back on her meds.

  • Indeed! I was screaming out loud “No! No! No! No!” as Tormund was being overwhelmed & dragged towards the water.

Also jumped about 10 foot when that bear changed direction and attacked from the side. I initially thought there must have been 2 bears to do that, but seems there was only 1.

  • I’d seen the idea in fan art about a year ago, so it was “spoiled” a bit for me. I remember thinking "that's AWESOME!" at the time, and it was that art that inspired my post on Aug 6th . . .

  • From Aug 14th . . .
    •
But after yesterday's reveal - doesn't Jon now have a claim that rightfully trumps ALL other claims (including that of Daenerys)? (* even though none of them know that yet *)
OK – 1 gripe - where did they get those chains from ????? !!!!!!!

Well - 2 gripes I guess . . . it seemed like the number of people North of the wall increased at 1 point :-k - initial scene showed "x", then some were killed, but then more were shown than should have been left. Unless the initial shots had some scouting ahead or falling behind. Or maybe I can't count.

Could a walker Dragon still breathe fire?
Since it looked like the wound spilled most of the dragon's insides I doubt its fire breathing organs are still intact.

I'd read speculation of an Ice Dragon to counter the dragons, but these were based on some other creature entirely rather than a resurrected dragon.

The Ice dragon idea is not a new one. I've seen it in at least one other fantasy movie that predates GOT.

PS
Jorah refusing to take his father's sword was crucial. Jon could never have pulled himself out of the hole in the ice if he hadn't used the cross guard of the sword for traction.

And speaking of messages, let's not forget that Little Finger made sure Arya would find Sansa's Season One note so he could set the two at each other's throats.
Will Arya see through this ruse and kill Little Finger before this current season ends?

Oh, and yes, a colleague and I totally saw the coming of the Ice Dragon.
Just can't believe the arm on the Night King!

I'm guessing it'll be the opposite...ice breath. It's a well established ability in D&D games & D&D fantasy fiction. Plus, it sets up a major (aerial) throw-down between the Night King & Azor Ahai...Ice and Fire!

Actually, if I remember correctly, Jon had it made special for Arya, so it is a one-of-a-kind.
And from several images I have seen, it is not a triangular thrusting weapon.

Yeah. I've been thinking that ever since we saw the army with the Giants.
Figured we'd get a dragon, also still waiting to see more of those mammoth/mastodons from that battle at the wall as well.

Chains probably came from Hardhome. It was a port city after all. Not that far from Eastwatch.
As to the number of men, didn't really notice.

One question that has been bugging me for a bit. Where the heck has Ghost been?
Have we seen him since just before the Battle of the Bastards?

As for Arya/Sansa, I don't think anything is going to come of it.
I am hoping that Arya is just playing with / testing her sister, while trying to draw out Littlefinger in the process. Get him to overplay his hand.
At least I am hoping that Arya isn't that petty and stupid to fall for his web.

Oh yeah, I forgot to touch on another subject.
The dead / undead dragon.
While I'm not sure if it could breath fire, or ice, or whatever. I am pretty sure, if it could, it probably can't, since it has a giant hole in it's side now.
If you notice after the javelin hit it, it's side kind of exploded with flame and then blood.

Oh. And I think the show runners have now overplayed their hand.
They just gave away the blueprint on how they are going to wrap this up.
I've been wondering for some time now, how there was going to be any chance of overcoming the undead army. I mean, it's massive. It has giants, and bears, and everything else. Everyone who dies in battle will get added to the army. How is that going to get wrapped up in the 7 episodes remaining?
Especially since they keep making the army even stronger.

Well, now we know.
They don't have to defeat the entire army.
They just have to kill one being, and the whole thing falls apart.
Yeah, it's going to take some daring plan, with some impossible odds to overcome to do it.
And probably a few sacrifices along the way.
But if humanity is going to win, then they are going to kill the Night King.
And there is probably some clue in how to do it in one of those books that Sam took.

Well I learned not to watch an episode where Tormund is in danger with my wife. She was screaming at the TV when he was about to go down. That is a clear violation of the "No talking during an episode" rule.
