ok biostrip works , does not damage the resin and gets all paint off including the primer.
dont know if auto primer would come off but i have nothing with that sort of primer on it.

now

after seeing what scott posted about the graffiti remover i decide to try that which i have just finished doing now.
ten times easier and again strips everything and no damage to the resin.
i havent got a dishwasher so it was just a bucket of hot water and elbow grease to wash off.

all in all it took me 20 mins

safe to say the graffiti remover wins hands down

thank you to scott for posting such a great solution
:D :D :D :D :D

I used cellulose thinners to strip my geometric and horizon franky heads when I wasn't happy with my painting without no ill effects only takes about 5 mins and it just drops off

How to remove old paint

#124 Post by rgreensnake »

Hi there fellow resin addicts. I have a rare resin model that needs the paint striped off. If I mess up I can't replace it. So is there a safe proven method to remove paint thanks for reading

Ran into something new for me last week.
I was stripping a resin kit. Kind of forgot it was in the container of Purple Power for a couple weeks.
Usually, this isn't a problem. But this time after I scrubbed the kit, the resin has a purple hue.
Doesn't seem have caused any other problems.
Just wondering, if anyone else has had this happen. And if so, did it present any issues when painting it afterwards.

Same thing happened to me Ty, a few years ago. It was the Stanarts Stormtrooper from their awesome Dewback kit. I got scared and just ordered a new one (which they just sent for free, pretty cool of them). I still have it so I'll hit it with some Krylon primer tonight and see what happens.

I'm letting mine 'air' for a while before I prime it.
That way, just in case some of the Purple Power got absorbed it should evaporate.

I use a paint stripper, either Klean-Strip or Jasco, for stripping action figures. You can get it at Home Depot. Leave it on for just a few minutes and use a stiff brush to remove the loosened paint. Don't leave it on too long or it will soften the vinyl. Wash the piece thoroughly to remove any residue.
