Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
I still can't believe John is no longer with us. He really was one of the finest producers I ever had the pleasure of dealing with, infact he was the first U.S. dealer I ever purchased from over the internet. RIP John, miss you already my friend.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
I think we should build a kit we got from X_Facto and post it this year!

Very sad news, indeed.
Maybe his last two kits, “Eye Candy” and “Burn Baby Burn” should be released as tribute pieces. I think that he would have liked that.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
Last I heard John was taking care of his elderly mother on a full time basis...correct? Had she passed away? If not, I feel sorry for her, as he was seemingly very devoted to her. I spoke to him at Wonderfest several times and have some of his kits. he was always nice to me on the phone too. As was the late Tom Parker.
How old was John? This is mind reeling to be honest.

John's mother died in 2014, according to Heavy Metal Spike in the thread in the Garage forum. I believe she was in her 90s. John himself was only around 60. Right at 60 if some information I just found online is correct.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
Thanks, Todd. I hadn't heard his mother passed, as I am on the outskirts of the hobby these days. it is a relief she preceded him in death though. If he had passed and she had no one left to take care of her, that would've been awful. Only 60....still fairly young in my eyes.Todd P. wrote:John's mother died in 2014, according to Heavy Metal Spike in the thread in the Garage forum. I believe she was in her 90s. Was it to do with the leg injury or did he have a chronic illness. I don't wish to be morbid, but someone earlier said it was possibly expected. Terrible loss to those who were friends or even acquaintances. Definite loss to the GK community to be sure.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
I second that, Bill. That monstrous Koboyoshi/X-O Facto Toho Kong he had cast for me has been primed for about 11 years and its about damn time I finished it as my way of saying "thanks" to John for procuring it for me. I am sure many of us have even more of his unbuilt kits, and if the Admins think it would be a good idea, perhaps a special thread in the "Model Museum" directory where John's X-O Facto tribute buildups can be posted is in order.monsterjones wrote:I think we should build a kit we got from X_Facto and post it this year!
What do y'all think about that?

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
An update in this sad time…
John's cousins, his best friend Em and I are awaiting the coroner's report. The police have rightfully sealed his affairs and once he has been placed, hopefully Em and I can address instructions for his final wishes.
For those of you who have inquired about memorials, I'll let you know a soon as I get the okay from his family.
Thanks everyone,
JY

Thanks for the update Jeff.
I know you and John and a long and close relationship.
I'm still stunned by the news.

monsterjones wrote:This is such a blow, John was a pioneer in the Garage Kit community. I had seen John Tucky's name all over the early days of Gremlins in the Garage and Kitbuilders magazine covers before I met him at Wonderfest in 1996. He had a wicked sense of humor (check out is photo section on his FB page) , we became instant fiends...I mean friends. His two page ads in AFM and Kitbuilders were always my go to for ordering Godzilla and Classic Monster models. When he teamed up with Jeff Yagher , they produced the BEST in a long line of historic monster models that satiated all of us Rezin Headz. I bought most of that line knowing they would become very desirable. And, he brought legendary Godzilla sculptor Yuji Sakai to Wonderfest too. (Thanks for the autographs). Also John was a friend, he would call me up just to chat and share Garage kit gossip. Damn, I am going to miss him. I really cherish all those cools kits we have on our shelves! Here is a great Facebook video of Jeff delivering one of the last great Frankenstein sculpts to John's lair:https://www.facebook.com/john.tucky/vid ... _video_tab

The video is probably only viewable by John's Facebook "friends", along with most of the photos that Bill was referring to ...

OMG! Wow! This is so hard to process. I don't even know what to say. I absolutely loved his kits and really enjoyed his wit, sarcasm and general conversations over quite a number of years, especially my contact with him through Facebook, etc. It is a loss to be sure.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
Terrible news. I remember all the times I would call him up and order Godzilla kits from him back in the day, and seeing him in person and talking to him at G-Fest. He was always such a nice guy to me. He was one of my favorite people in the business. I always enjoyed reading his post here. I'm just shocked and saddened right now.
