Fewture models, Takeya ALIEN Pile.

#1 Post by nickartdude67 »

I recall obtaining the kit from Sassy Satalites sometime between 1992-1995, it came in the black box with silver foil like artwork depicted on the face. It was cast in cold cast porcelain except for the dome of the main Alien, wich was cast in clear plastic. I have seen and painted other versions wich had the tail made of a soft plastic with a wire running through it, this one, the tail is the same material as the rest of the kit. So I believe that it is from the first run of the kit.
It layed pretty much dormant up until about eight years ago. I had started it and then moved my residence, in the move the kit was badly damaged, all the hands had been broken, the dome badly broken and beyond repair now. It was set aside in frustration again for eight years up until a month ago when I decided to give it a look. Everything was fixable but the dome. So with the help of Shane McGowin a replacement part was made, and the reality of finishing the kit had finally come to pass.
Tools of the paint were my Iwata Eclipse, tubed acrylics and enamel metalics, color pencil and fine tip colored pens. Thin glazed washes were used in plenty to bring up the incredible detail of the piece.
Enjoy, and thanks for looking.

It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death.

I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.

Man, that had to have taken a looong time to paint that much detail. Fantastic paint job for sure!

Absolutely amazing. The coloring, shading, all the details; it really stands out. I especially like the domed heads.
