Looking for rotating bases/turntables for model display

#1 Post by lsamuels »

Does anyone have a suggestion for a nice-looking rotating base/turntable for our larger models? Most of my searches turn up powered rotating displays, which are not what I want or need -), or else kitchen-style "lazy susans", usually white.

I'd like to find some nice black, fairly quiet turntables of varying diameters (the one I have for "Leather Jacket" is 9" diameter). Any suggestions? I found some on Amazon, listed for use for monitors, but they look a bit industrial. -)

Thanks for any ideas!

If you don’t want a motorized one, buy the hardware in the size you want at woodworking stores or online. Rocker has lots of sizes.

You can often find cIrcular compressed wood circles at Hobby Lobby or Lowe’s, or cut your own out of any material you have a saw blade for. The let your creativity loose!

Search second-hand shops for old record players and pop off the turntables.

A lot of big box stores sells round, DIY table tops in various diameters. Paint it your color, then just screw the spin mechanism to the bottom and you're good to go.

I know that this is a year (plus) late, but... in case that it helps others in the future.

They have all that you would want, I think.

Recrisp,
Thanks for the link. I've been picking up various non-powered swivels from Amazon ("swivel" and "turntable" seem to be the correct terms to search on), and they're pretty decent, with varying amounts of sound and/or un-eveness - sometimes more, sometimes less.

Oh wow I am looking for the same thing-I want to rotate my statues for videos. I don't like turning by hand.
